Eastern Conference.

Even I'm only like 3 games out of the playoff race out East, and I'm not even an NBA team.

Unfair for the teams that have been doing well in the West. The East just sucks except for Boston, Orlando, Atlanta and Cleveland.

it makes the regular season so much better if you only have 4 playoff spots. It also makes the first round much better.

After the top 3-4 teams, the East is complete trash.

plus, look at the NFL and MLB. They only take a small number of teams from both conferences even though the National League and the NFC are both inferior leagues. A mediocre AL team could win the NL but not make the playoffs in the NL.

It's just the nature of sport. The AL will always be better than the NL, but in the NFL the NFC will rise again, same with the West and East.

The playoffs should be the top 6 teams and the #1 and #2 seed get a first round bye. It should be more adventageous to get a top 2 seed than it currently is.

At the least, Utah could well control next year's draft the same way the Timberwolves controlled this past year's draft, moving picks here and there until they had four first-rounders.

Follow along.

Utah has the keys to the catbird's seat because the Jazz has New York's unprotected first-round pick next year. Utah got it from Phoenix as part of a Feb. 19, 2004 deal that sent Keon Clark to the Suns and Tom Gugliotta to the Jazz. Phoenix got the pick from New York as part of the deal that sent Stephon Marbury and Penny Hardaway to the Knicks for Howard Eisley, Antonio McDyess and Charlie Ward. So, if the Knicks wind up with the league's worst record and "win" the Lottery, that means the Jazz would have the first pick in the draft. Which will, barring meteors hitting the earth, be John Wall. New York isn't cooperating, though, with this four-game win streak that leaves the Knicks six games "behind" 2-21 New Jersey for the worst record in the Association.

The pick doesn't get better or worse based on how far a team makes it in the playoffs. As long as they make the playoffs, the draft position of each playoff team is set. The Knicks making it to the ECF won't make the pick worse than if they get swept in the first round.

oh ok, cool :toast

That's good because they certainly have a much higher chance of being swept in the first round :lol
