View Full Version : What if we lose Game 2?

I don't think we wil, but let's say hypothetically that Denver keeps it close and pulls out a win again and the Spurs are down 0-2.
If we fall 0-2, I think we are done. We will have trouble in Mile High especially with Duncan's lack of conditioning.
What do we do after that? Do we keep Pop in as Coach? Let PJ take over? Call Phil Jax?(as much as I hate him, his record speaks for himself).
Right now, this team looks very unfocused and does't look like they have a fire or passion to win.

Well it'll be a safe assumption to say TPark won't lay any blame at the feet of Pop, and you'll have a few people say if Rose was here things would be different. Other than that, we'd also be down 0-2.

Then we lose the series.
Pop will not get fired. Get off it.
Even if we wanted him to be, he wont, so you can forget it.

wow.
we're not going down 0-2. if we do, we still have a shot. we're a better team than denver, even if duncan is not 100% and rasho is out.

As usual, Tpark misses the point.
No one wants Pop fired. I don't want Pop fired. I just want him to go out and find his own personal Tex Winters, because expecting Pop to find a clue on offense is about as likely as expecting LakerGod to get laid in his lifetime without paying for it.

I say we fire Pop, trade Duncan for Lebron, trade Nazr back to the Knicks to get Rose, and trade Parker and Ginobili to the Pacers for Stephen Jackson.

If we lose Game 2...
Walton will create 5 threads all saying pretty much the same thing
AHF will question the play calling, calling for more plays to be run through Manu or Barry
T Park will blame Barry and defend Pop for hours
IceColdBrewski will blame Tony Parker
Whottt will write a 27 paragraph essay that concludes with the blame somehow falling on Avery Johnson's shoulders
Sequ will blame Europe and Argentina
Europe and Argentina will declare war on Sequ
Ducks will post 12 ESPN.com links in the NBA forum
Marcus/Sparky will question Spurs' fans testicular fortitude
Kori will merge 7 threads and issue a stern warning

have you watched many playoff games? remember when we were up 2-0 over the lakers? teams can come back from 0-2 and good teams win on the road.
we play a bad fourth quarter and suddenly denver is a championship contender in everyone's eyes.

I hope you guys are right about winning game 2, lots of confidence but really who thought we'd lose game 1, or go 0-17. Winning game 2 might be more about Denver feeling good splitting the series than spurs actaully winning it.
Honestly if we loose in the first round to Denver then I think Pop has to go, the talent is clearly there and this is a team that for the second year in a row was one of the best teams and one that was a serious championship contender....

I think if we lose this round, Pop would probably resign himself and go back to Mgt, like Pat Riley.
No shame whatsoever in that. He's done alot of good for the team.
Really, this is Pop's championship run to blow himself.
We got the deepest bench, the best defense, one of the top 2 players in the world, Manu and Parker.
I can't imagine us losing, but then again that's exactly what happened tonight.
I would hope Pop would be man enough to step down if we lost this 1st round to Denver.

Y'all underestimate Pop's ego. He won't quit.
He'll say Tim just wasn't healthy enough to get it done. He'll say our guys couldn't hit their outside shots, and lay that at the feet of Beno, Horry, Barry, and GRob.
Then over the summer we won't re-sign Horry and GRob, Barry will get traded, the E-N will write lots of articles about Beno just hitting the rookie wall and being injured, we'll bring in some other vets to fill "the roles" we need filled, and do it all again next year.
And the offense will suck again next summer without a Buckets or Kerr around to bail us out, and we'll go through it all again.

It's funny how people think winning Game2 is a huge deal, that it will turn around the series in Spurs' favor.
Spurs winning game 2 will not offset losing Game1.
Winning Game2 means the Spurs will be faced with a 5-game series, starting with 2 games in Denver, Nuggest will have HCA, 3 games to 2.
The Karl Nuggets are 19-1 @Denver. The Spurs have sucked all year on the road against good teams.
As I said before today, if the Spurs split @SBC, they will be, and now are, in very deep shit.

Spurs winning game 2 will not offset losing Game1.
No shit.
But obviously they want to put themselves in a postion to at least COMPETE in this series. So winning Game 2 gives them a chance. Can't afford to be picky at this point.

to answer the question
if the spurs lose game 2, then that means they would have to win 4 out of the next 5 games to win the series 4 games -3 games

If we lose game two, then more people will jump to their death off of the spurs bandwagon, then miraculously climb back on around game 6.

If we lose you'll probably start seeing BS rumors in the press about so and so being a locker room cancer, and Pop trading said person away in the off-season.

If we lose Game 2, I will become very worried, and i will still believe the spurs have a chance. Guys, in 03 the Spurs went down to Stephon Marbury and the Suns in the first round of game 1. A little over a month later, they won the championship. A lot of yall are acting like the Spurs chance of getting out of the first round is very slim. Also, be happy that the Spurs are at least in the playoffs...

if we lose game 2, expect more bs threads from lakergod or mouse
seriously this team can bounce back unless sum bs theory is goin on with the nba
I'm just glad there's no summer Olympics and the All Star break is a year off. Tim, Manu and the coaching staff need a damn break.
If the Spurs drop game two on Wed night it's over. It will come back here the next week with Denver holding a 3-1 lead. But the Spurs rebound well after losing the first game of a best of seven series, so they'll head up to the Pepsi Center tied up at 1-1.
Denver will probably split both of their home games. But granted, the Spurs aren't exactly road killers lately, so it's very possible that Denver can very easily come back down here able to clinch.
For those who know everything about the Spurs on here. When was the last time, the Spurs lost the decisive game of a playoff series here at home?

That year, Speedy saved Parker in majority of the games by coming off the bench and playing great. Manu also came off the bench to win games for us.
This year, we don't have a PG as good as Speedy and a SG as good as Manu.
Oh yeah, Rasho isn't DRob either.
Completely different scenerios, which is why this situation scares me.
