View Full Version : This lazy, depressing team is making me look elsewhere for NBA entertainment.

I've been watching the Spurs consistently since the 92 Season in Elementary School. We've had so much heart and soul in the past. We always had something unique minus the 96-97 season. Rodman, Robinson, Eliot, Horry, Ellie...all strong character guys that will give it their best shot contract year or not.
This team is just flat out boring and depressing. They have no confidence, no motivation, no quality wins. It's all negative.
I watch the Rockets every now and then an am starting to appreciate them. The team is littered with injury but they overachieve, maybe it's Rick Adelman maybe it's the players, I don't know but they play with heart. For this half of the season count me a defacto Rockets fan. The Spurs don't exist right now for me.
We'll be looking to drop salary on this wasted effort in Feb. Spurs are a good team but not a playoff team in the loaded Western Conference.

Did you watch the '96-'97 team?
They played with more heart than all the fucking players on the court tonight.
If you want to take the exit though then it's your choice. I ain't jumping off the ship. I am mad a shit, but I ain't jumpin'.

But it'll never be the Rockets.
If you really follow this team, you should know they are notorious for their slow starts. This year is pretty alarming though.

Second half of the season will be tougher than any previous season too as our schedule if one of the toughest we've had in years.
It's going to be fun.

I don't think heart is a problem. They keep fighting the whole game.
It's sad to admit but we're losing because some key players, (TP, Manu, RJ) aren't played as we expected and I don't know if they will.
TP is playing his worst season since 2004, the same for Manu. If those guys don't step up we're one and done again.
I think we aren't even worst because we're playing with heart, the players and also coach Pop aren't doing a good job talent-wise
It's easier to blame lack of heart, toughness and others but I think the big problem is the poor play of 2 players: Parker and Manu

Would love if we could find a Mario Ellie, he would be slapping the shit out of our players in the Locker room right about now.

So in summary, you're a very conditional fan. Either your team is entertaining and successful, or you're out. But I do understand what you're saying. That's why it's most imperative to remain mindful of the fact that these are highly paid athetes that "might" choose to play hard.
But if it does in fact affect you that greatly, I'd find another hobby. Maybe one that you can actually have some control over. I haven't watched a Mavs game in a few years and choosing to remove myself from sports has been one of the best decisions that I have ever made.
Merry Christmas!

When you come out playing like Lazy fairies that is a lack of heart and effort. No killer instinct or toughness on this team.

Portland was without Roy, Outlaw, Oden, and Pzbilla. At least our key players played the game. No if they don't show up thats their fault. These guys do need to show more heart here.

I think Manu always play with heart, but the problem is not his heart is his body, he can't explode to the basket anyomore, his D is terrible.
That's why I said, talent is the BIG problem not heart

oh Yeah, thats why I would leave Manu off the no heart list. He allways plays with heart, just wish his body was as strong as his heart was.
The others though, well....

It's not about entertainment and success, it's about watching something you can appreciate. The Mavs haven't been near that until this decade, so maybe it's hard to relate.

It has nothing to do with heart, other teams have passed them by. Do you actually think the spurs are intentionally trying to lose games? Do you think their not trying? The spurs are just not good enough. I'm not saying you, but, some people in this forum just don't want to believe that.

I really don't think the Spurs will hear any of us complaining. I really wish that Pop can hear our anger and helplessness as loyal fans. It hurts to see our beloved team plays so poorly.
Pop, RC, & Mr. Holt. Can you guys hear us???????

After reading some of your comments, it seems to me that this team is thinking too much. They're playing too head heavy, maybe this X and O deal will pay off later, but right now it looks horrid...no guts/no heart. It could be like the 2003 season, but that season was the breakout for Manu and SJAX and you could see it early.
and we're supposed to care that a fake spurs fan is jumping ship? save yourself the frustration and hassle and become a rockets fan, dont comeback either this team doesnt need fans like you.

i thought this team was more talented than last yr but it looks like the sacramento kings of a couple years ago. father time snuck up on them and shattered whatever window they had left.

Actually, father time has little to do with it. Duncan has played as good as ever. Manu has not. But Tony and the rest of the guys that played are fairly young. We're just not playing well right now. Especially on defense.

We just can't stop anybody... and for whatever reason we keep on playing small thinking we can outscore teams... I mean, tonight we closed the game with Jefferson trying to guard Aldrige...
I think we all thought that we were going to go back playing defense now that we have a little more talent on offense, but it's not happening, and I don't know why Pop is doing what he's doing...
As far as age goes, Duncan has been the only constant of good play this season, so that's definitely not it.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Magic or Cavs do well since the Spurs aren't an option anymore. I could never root for the Rockets though, not after 95...

I didn't get to see it live but i was following the live updates online. To see the Spurs close out with Jefferson as the PF was perplexing. There really are no words. I hate the French national team.

I have to say I agree with you. When the Spurs were down in the 4th, even against a shorthanded Blazers team and playing in San Antonio, I just had a difficult time convincing myself that the Spurs had a shot. That's pretty incredible considering this franchise's achievements the past couple of decades. They are perplexing. I guess you can only hope that they ratchet up the intensity and deepen their "corporate knowledge". You don't ever give up on the Spurs, but this is new territory here! 2-10 against .500 teams thus far? And getting worked over the entire game by a decimated Blazers team?

After four championships, none excepting 2003 looking particularly likely, you'd think Spurs fans would be poised, patient and confident--not the bunch of cliff jumping, fissured assholes we have in droves on this forum.
Regardless, this team looks great and is right in the thick of it as we approach the rodeo road trip. Get ready. It's going to happen. :lobt:

See my post this AM this team is starting to gell and will finish with 55 or so wins and a top three seed - Blair, Manu, Hill and many others playing hard and now starting to play well and Duncan has been simply one of the tops in the game - look at his PER. The glass is always half full but this team still has great potential and talent and will prove many of your skeptics wrong going forward.

It's Scola and Battier, man. Those dudes bring basketball character. The culture over there that keeps the Rockets winning without McGrady or Yao is amazing, and awesome. The coaching over there must be genius. Nothing wrong with being a Rockets fan.

Agreed that TP, and RJ are delivering less than expected.
Manu's road to recovery is understandable, but where the heck is Parker? And how much time does RJ need to find his offense?
