..to have success without Derek Fisher?..

we hear a lot about Shaq, now we see how Kobe needs Gasol, which is evident in games like tonight's where Gasol is being double teamed..but why doesn't Derek Fisher get more love in this regard?..Kobe seems so struggle heavily without Derek Fisher next to him..any theories?..

Fisher's record as a Laker: 526-211(0.826)..
Kobe's record as a Laker: 649-323(0.668)..

Derek Fisher has made it to the 2nd round or better in every season he's ever been with the Lakers..

the Lakers have only been eliminated in the 1st round twice since the Shaq era began and have only missed the playoffs once during that time span..those were the only 3 years that Derek Fisher wasn't a Laker..

Fisher returned to the Lakers in 2007-2008, and they've made the Finals in every year since then..

Kobe's record without Fisher is 112-111: .500 ball..

Kobe has never made it past the 1st round without Derek Fisher..that's kind of pathetic for a guy that is considered to be the player of the decade from many popular media outlets..

any theories as to why Kobe's legacy needs Fisher?..it sounds crazy, but the numbers don't lie..

sons the fact is that Kobe is and always has been an EXCELLENT role player, but he is very far from being a leader.

Its true though I've noticed this as well! He's tight with Fish and he always says they came into the league together so they know each other n what not... plus Fish is pretty fuckin clutch as well...

Probably one of those things you can't explain, and as much as I'd like to say it does, I really dont think it reflects on bitch boi ..

Kobe doesn't need Fisher to be successful, the Lakers however do. Kobe has to have a player that he trusts. Tacker touched on it. Kobe took three years to realize that without trusting your team mates, you can't win. It took Jordan 7 years to figure that out. Fisher and Kobe have been thru battles this decade and they became very good friends with the utmost respect for each other. Robert Horry was another player that Kobe trusts and would have been able to keep Kobe humble. You will never see Kobe go off on fisher for not passing him the ball like you did with Jordan and Pippen. If you watched last nights game you saw Kobe taking left handed shots when he was hurting (to this day I don't know why Jackson does not take Kobe out when he's like that) All of his team mates were still looking for him and he was still asking for the ball. The Lakers inserted Fisher and when Kobe was calling for the ball, he ignored him and looked for Gasol instead. Kobe didn't say a word. Could you imagine what would have been the attitude of KB if it would have been anyone other than Fisher who did that? That's why I do not underestimate Fishers contributions to the Lakers. He is a very important Laker and getting rid of him should be the farthest thing from the lakers minds.

Why has Derek Fisher been unable..
..to have success without Kobe?..

Much better this way... Although I think the answer is pretty obvious...

Kobe, or any other player (see James, LeBron), will never have success by himself. He'll always need to have good players around him, like Shaq or Pau Gasol. Derek Fisher is a decent point guard, so that doesn't hurt either...

We have to be careful with the numbers...
For example, what 2003 draft pick had the biggest effect on his team?
James? Wade? Bosh? Anthony? Any of these superstars?

Well, Milicic was the only one who won a NBA championship in his rookie year. :lol
It's a true fact, but it would be the wrong conclusion... :nope

True Story: I'm at a Laker game with my chic, and I'm booing the fuck out of Smush from the 3rd row. He can hear me good. Its to the point where fans were laughing at me booing him. He misses like 8 straight shots. My chic (who doesn't know much about basketball) turns to me and says, "does he practice?" So I'm standing up yelling, "hey Smush, do you practice, she wants to know!!!" The game is on the line, and this mutherfuccer hits a huge crunch time three, then walks over and blows a kiss at my girl.

...then you woke up.

Eric Holder also conspired with President Clinton and Janet Reno to mass murder at Waco, Texas. Yes, McVeigh squared that, but, Holder, et al still left American men, women and children dead in the ground."

I already stated by Waco/McVeigh stance a couple months ago on this Forum

I stand by it 100%. But, hey, it's water under the bridge. The F.B.I. tried running from McVeigh. He ran 'em to ground, held them accountable. It's square.

..to have success without Derek Fisher?..

It's a coincidence more than anything. Fisher plays a role, he's a solid role player and all championship teams need them, but he's disposable. Fisher leaving and then coming back was around the same time the Lakers lost talent and then replenished. Fisher needs Kobe to win, not the other way around.

Kobe has never made it past the 1st round without Derek Fisher..that's kind of pathetic for a guy that is considered to be the player of the decade from many popular media outlets..

Are people really this dense and devoid of basketball knowledge to think Kobe needs Fisher to win games? You could replace Fisher with about 100 other players and the end result would be the same. To say it's pathetic that Kobe hasn't won without Fisher is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard.

Now granted, this was a troll/baiting thread(and it worked), but damn, how much has Fisher meant to the Lakers all these years?..

This guy just knows how to play when it matters..big shots, leadership, timely plays, the uncanny ability to know when to deliver a good flop or a cheap shot..all this, while Laker fans shit on him all year long..

Every year I keep on hearing how much Fisher sucks and is over the hill. At times he has looked slow against younger guards. In the big games he makes key plays and big shots. Crafty ass player who is in damn good shape.

You guys should look past the poster and instead read the content. It would make a lot of sense.

Fisher was instrumental last year against Orlando in Game 4. Again, he came big for a must win Game 3 tonight. It may sound absurd but bias aside, you know Fisher is such an integral part of Kobe's legacy.

Kobe with another early exit without Fisher, actually losing to Fisher's team, too..

:lol 2 years later and it's still true..

Laker fans wanted him out for a younger, more explosive player..they got him and he choked miserably:lol:lol..

Meanwhile, Fisher makes a significant impact in the WCFs, in addition to his leadership that led to 5 rings in LA..Fish was the undisputed leader in 2009 and 2010, but I'm beginning to wonder how much of a role his leadership played during the 3-peat, tbh..
