ESPN.com reported Saturday that the Washington Wizards had reached out to the Rockets in an exploratory manner about a possible Gilbert Arenas-for-McGrady swap, but Houston has no interest in such a deal. Arenas ranks as one of the league's most difficult players to move with four seasons left after this one on a mammoth $111 million contract and a history of knee problems to rival McGrady's.

If they offered Haywood and an unprotected number 1 as well.........

There might be a deal to be had.

For what amounts to an expiring contract now? That's all T-Mac is. Arenas might be a bad contract to take, but that might be the best offer the Rockets get in terms of getting something in return other than another expiring contract, even though I agree with the Rockets decision not to make that deal.

Seems like a fair deal to me but no team is gonna include a top 5 lottery pick just to get out of a large contract.

Wow, the wizards are truly hosed. I'd 100000000x rather be a rocket fan than a Wiz if forced to choose. 111mil contract and his wife still cheats? Wow.

It would still be a hard choice.

Washington may have the worst NBA front office over the last 15 years. They've certainly given out the two worst contracts over that period, $100M+ dogs to Juwan Howard and a micro-fractured Arenas.

Washington really just needs to completely blow it up and start over. I can see why they want TMac's $23M expiring. They seem to want to do what I recommend. What they have is just not working at all.

No, that distinction goes to the Suns Front Office.

A team that has made the playoffs almost every year and done well. Won 60 games for quite a few years and sold out....

Not even close

Please. All those players they just gave away to save a few measly millions. Rondo, Deng, that guy up in Portland, a few more, + the Thunder own their pick this year.

Man the whole situation really sucks for T-Mac

I'm sure he really wants to help his team, but the ROckets are better off without him

I don't think the Rockets are going to trade T-Mac period. His expiring is worth more to the Rockets than picking up a gimpy has-been like Arenas. That's like trading gimp for gimp.

I forgot who reported it, but the sad, sad Wiz payed Gibby about 30 million more than the next best bid. Idiots outbid only themselves. Maybe they'd be dumb enough to trade Jamison to the Spurs for Richardson.

Did I miss something? When did the Spurs get Jason Richardson?:wow

Unless you mean Richard Jefferson?

It's official!

T-Mac is now officially Marbury'd

Shit, I think the only way I'd take Arenas' contract is if I also got LeBron in the deal (already signed to a 6 year contract, that is).

What he wrote!

Wiz are fucked... from the day they signed that OVERRATED chucker named Arenas.

Kudos to Rox for making the right decision! :toast

...and let's not forget them opting for Kwame Brown with the first overall pick in the 2001 NBA draft. Of course, that was during the Michael Jordan GM era. Recall that Brown was the first-ever high school player to be selected as the top pick of the draft. He wasn't ready for the NBA then - and he's still not ready now. Been a total bust.

HS kid has nothing to do with his lack of basketball skills and heart; LeBronze was a high schooler and turned out pretty well.

They also hammered themselves with that humongous contract with T-Mac. Both players got paid for what they are about to do. It's just sad that they can't come through with a performance that deserves their contract.

The Wizards officially got owned with a lousy attempt to trade Arenas for McGrady.
