Who'd you keep as a core to rebuild around?

Myself...
Amare (assuming he stays)
Richardson
Dragic (Nash is too old to rebuild around, this one is a gamble)

Tony-Hill-Blair

I'd go with this too...but it's pretty much the only option for the Spurs...could maybe make a case for RJ instead of Hill but he'll be on the wrong side of 30 in a couple of years...

The Spurs would have a lot of work to do if they really had to rebuild right now tho...

I'd love to keep Splitter but it's hard to want to commit to rebuilding around him without any NBA experience.

Still, if he turns out to the productive big that we hope he can be, then keeping him to rebuild around is a no-brainer over Blair and I'd still keep hill over RJ, just because of age...

Yeah, another interesting question is which players would you protect from an expansion draft.

I'd go with Rondo, Pierce and KG. Fourth, Perkins. Fifth, Ray Allen.

I'll worry about the rebuilding after I win about 5 rings....

Tony, Jefferson, Hill/Blair (probably blair since we have tony in the backcourt, but with his legs it makes it hard to pick him as a building block)

You will have to rebuild to do that 'cause this core of Lakers is too old to win 5 more times (I'm not so sure anymore that they will even win one more time)

I almost picked J-Rich but IMO the Suns need to completely revamp the SG position, J-Rich isn't the long term answer.

Why on earth would you keep Duncan and Manu if your goal is to rebuild?

I like Hill but he's not a legit PG. Even if you don't think Tony is a true PG...Hill is even worse. He's a scorer and he plays D, but he's no PG. Blair is too small to build around. If i'm starting tomorrow it's hard not to take a PG, a forward and a true center. Mahinmi apparently cant read or write...so that leaves me with Splitter. I like what i've seen from him in Europe, and he's the #1 ranked international big man. Parker, Jefferson and Splitter isn't a terrible core.

I'd definitely ditch Manu, Duncan however I"d keep unless he could be traded for a key component.

Not if you're rebuilding. And i just kind of assumed we weren't playing a trade game. If there's no emotions involved and trades are allowed then i'd keep splitters rights and package the rest of the team for the John Wall pick.

**That being said, you could never realistically trade Tim Duncan. And emotions would be involved so I could never do it.

I think it just depends on what you want. I'd keep Hill because i'd think he would improve his defense enough to where he can be a legit stopper that can guard opposing 1 and 2 guard for years to come. Mainly would keep him for the potential he has defensively and I think he can develop a good shot.

Jefferson will be 30 this year, I think, and if I'm looking at rebuilding around, I'd take Parker, Hill, and Blair with our current roster mainly for their ages and potential, and then fill in the rest of the roster and bench with a veterans and serviceable role players...but like I said earlier, it comes down to what you want. Again, the Spurs would have a LOT of work if this were a real scenario.

I think taking Jefferson instead of Hill would still be a good core, I'm just looking at building around younger players instead of Jefferson, who I think has only a few productive years left in him.

I do agree with you to an extent about Splitter, as I think a solid center is essential to a team's success...the problem is I'd still like to see him in NBA action before taking a risk on rebuilding a team around with him as a core (although I will admit I haven't seen much of his European play).
