This from the number crunchers at the Elias Sports Bureau ...

Cool.

How does the playoff ranking? I know it's hard to compare different teams who played different numbers of games.

Oh what could have been if not for...

Tim Duncan's injury in 2000
Derek Anderson's injury in 2001
David Robinson's injury in 2002
Fisher's BS shot in 2004
Crooked Mavs series in 2006
Fisher's foul in 2008
Ginobili's injuries in 2009

Could have gone 10 for 10.

Yeah, people forget that san antonio was .4 seconds (2004) and a bad foul by ginobili (2006) away from five straight finals appearances. They would of beaten the pistons and heat in the finals and would have one five straight nba championships. A good start to team of the century.

You can't discredit all the other teams in the playoffs outside of whom the Spurs played against. Some of those teams were probably just as good, if not better than the Spurs at the time.

better at the time

i reckon had we not low balled and allowed jackson to walk, we couldve be talking about 5-6 straight titles..from 02/03-06/07

the year derek was out with shoulder injury in the playoffs, he was the 2nd important guy on the team in terms of offensive production, it really hurted this team when no one step up to take over his ass....

Why don't you say that if Shaq has not left Lakers...

We Spurs fans tend to notice our own tragedy while other teams have theirs as well.

Quite A Decade For Spurs
By Elias Sports Bureau

The Spurs ended the decade with 574 wins, the most for any NBA team over the last 10 years. Only two teams in NBA history had more wins in any decade, both did it in the 1980s: the Lakers (584) and Celtics (580).

That would be quite different considering the circumstances, but I get your point.

I don't really consider Fisher's 0.4 shot...we would have still had to beat the Lakers, and then beat an extremely tough Pistons team in the Finals..that one isn't a huge deal..

Duncan's injury in 2000 would have been huge, and that one definitely sucks..

2006 would have been a lock had Manu not fouled Dirk though..there's no way we lose to Miami in the Finals IMO..

Don't call me a pussy but losing that game to the Mavs is the only thing that has made me cry (slightly) over basketball. It was our game, one less foul and we move on to beat the Suns and Heat and win 3 of these :lobt::lobt::lobt: in a row.

Plus we won the most games ever in 2006 - 63 games, and started 16-3 as well.

Its just too bad Crapramento got Artest during the season and those a-holes gave the Spurs such a tough opening round series.
