PORTLAND, Ore. -- Brandon Roy scored 37 points, Andre Miller added 23 and the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Golden State Warriors 105-89 Saturday night despite dressing only eight players.

Monta Ellis continued his strong play against Portland, leading the Warriors with 30 points. Corey Maggette added 22 points and 10 rebounds and Anthony Randolph had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Warriors, who shot 68.4 percent in the first quarter but 33.3 percent the rest of the way.

Martell Webster had 21 points and 11 rebounds for Portland. The Blazers have been hampered by a spate of injuries and essentially played six players. Rookie forward Jeff Pendergraph started but played just 9 minutes. Shavlik Randolph, a recent acquisition with an injury exemption, played less than a minute.

Anyway this isn't impressive. Mavs only play 8 players every single game any way. But thats just because our coach is a fucking moron.

Bonner leads the Spurs in +/- is why I asked. That is a very strange stat. I was referencing Bayless and his inconsistency. He is a scorer, but to come in and put up games like this when Blake goes down and he has a chance to earn more PT is not good.

Good player but needs to develop some consistency (which is hard because his minutes are wildly inconsistent)

same here.. i thought lakers were gonna grab him for some reason. but when we got the chance i was so happy. i wanted blair also though lol. my buddy went to st marys with him and said the dude is a stud. and i watched him in the olympics and was pretty impressed myself.

Bayless is an inconsistent shooter, but what he does well is drive to the rack and draw fouls. I think he'll be fine.

Nate is looking for any reason to give him PT over Blake. He must want to punch Bayless for this performance. Now Roy can say "look at the numbers" and put pressure on Nate to play Blake.

Not a big deal right now, but could develop into something.

Blake will be out for at least 2 weeks so Bayless has plenty of time to prove himself.

Depends on what your expectations are for the year? If you think you can win a title, then you make a move for this year. If not, you just wait and be patient. Take your lumps and evaluate players.

It is tough because the team is fighting so hard and beating teams on any given night. Problem is though that playoffs are series and talent goes a long way. Nothing wrong with busting your a** every night though.

The Blazers still have talent (especially when Outlaw and Rudy and Batum get back), so a run is not out of the question.

As a crazy season becomes even more wild and improbable, so too does the success of the Trail Blazers, who on Saturday night continued their ride through the 2009-10 season with another can-you-believe-it performance.

Reduced to eight players as the season-long hex of injuries and illness continued, the Blazers rode another superstar performance from Brandon Roy (37points), and some solid contributions from the supporting cast to a rousing 105-89 dispatch of the Golden State Warriors at the Rose Garden.

The Blazers (22-13) stayed in a virtual tie for first place with Denver atop the Northwest Division standings by winning for the sixth time in seven games, all while players dropped seemingly by the day.

This time, the casualties were forward LaMarcus Aldridge (sprained left ankle) and guard Steve Blake (pneumonia), setbacks that appeared to be the final straw in what has been a trying season. Blazers players have missed 157 games because of injury.

But instead of becoming depressed, the Blazers have become determined, playing a fighting, scrapping, unselfish brand of basketball.

"There's an old saying: It's amazing what you can do when no one cares who gets the credit," coach Nate McMillan said.

When the season started amid a locker room brimming with talent and expectations, there was much ado about who should or would get the credit for the team's success.

Now, the only credits the team is talking about are the potential movie credits. As in, this season has become such a story that more than one Blazers player in the locker room said the season should be put on the silver screen.

"We should have a movie about this, because it's that unreal when you sit back and look at it and see what we are going though," said rookie Dante Cunningham, whose career-high 10 rebounds made him the latest role player to stand out. "It's like Juwan (Howard) said: He has never seen anything like this in his career, and he's been in the league for 16 years. It's unbelievable, but the way the team is holding up is great."

On Saturday, the Blazers fell behind 11-1 and 17-3. But with Martell Webster bombing away from the outside (21 points, 4 of 8 on three-pointers) and flying fearlessly into the fray for wayward shots (11 rebounds), and Andre Miller consistently probing the lane (23 points, six assists), the Blazers hung tight, and were within 56-55 at halftime.

In the second half, Roy took over, scoring 19 and hitting 5 of 6 shots while being serenaded with "M-V-P! M-V-P!" from the sold-out Rose Garden crowd. The Garden has chanted that before, but even Roy agreed that it was never as loud or as long as they did Saturday.

Heck, even after the game his coach was broaching the subject of most valuable player.

"What he is doing for this team right now is MVP-type stuff," McMillan said. "You talk about a player that's most valuable player for his team (with) what he's doing. Not only is he scoring, but he is trusting his teammates."

Roy said he is being propelled by being part of such an inspiring story as the Blazers.

"It just seems like everyday is another blow," Roy said. "But our effort everyday is something to be proud of. We continue to fight. You see one guy trying so hard and you want to be a part of it. Dre (Miller) was out there scrapping ... Martell ... then young guys like D.C. (Cunningham). I was happy to be out there and a part of it."

Of course, Roy was more than just part of it. It was his fifth game of 30 points or more this season and it marked the 15th consecutive game in which he has scored 23 or more points, the longest active streak in the NBA. During that 15-game stretch, he is averaging 27.9 points.

"When you have Brandon Roy on your team, anything is possible," Golden State's Corey Maggette said.

Notes: In the wake of Blake's illness, Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard said he is "leaning strongly" toward calling up rookie guard Patty Mills from the Development League in time for Monday's game at the Los Angeles Clippers. Mills on Friday had 38 points and 12 assists in his debut with the Idaho Stampede. He made 13 of 25 shots, including 7 of 10 from three-point range. ... Blake is expected to miss at least a week. ... Aldridge said he doesn't expect to play Monday in Los Angeles, but is aiming toward a return for Tuesday's home game against Memphis.

its rumored that rudy is expected to make it on the start of the road trip at the end of this month and hopes to play, while batum is probably going to be on the road trip also with a small chance he will play... (knocks on wood)

It happens, and people give each other shit. Especially Mav/Spur fans. But when you get a guy who gets a little too big for his britches and starts whining and copying all of you like a little brother that so desperately wants to hang out with his older brother and his friends, you get badfish.

In an "LOL Spurs"-type thread, though, those 3-10 stats are valid. Here, there was no reason, other than insecurity, to bring up the Mavs at all. I'm not on you at all. It was homeboy that brought them up out of the blue.

Dude, I understand that, but those threads are after a team the Spurs lost to that was not the Mavs. They had nothing to do with it. They were just trolling. It was funny and it riles Spurs fans up like human catnip.

This guy did the same thing in this thread by saying "the Mavs....not that impressive".

Spurs fans will always give Mav fans crap and vice versa. Just the way it is here and that is way in general Mav fans are liked on the board. They don't get booty hurt. But lately there is a change in the winds.

Agreed. No point in making trades you wouldn't make if everybody was healthy. 4 or 5 more wins aren't worthy of giving up talent or overpaying.
