We know Kobe has. And I remember Magic asked to be traded back in 1981. Kareem asked to be traded when he was on the Bucks. What other star players asked to be traded? Most of them do it behind closed doors,I remember reading a book saying that MJ once came close to asking for a trade if they didnt surround him with talent back before he won any titles

To be honest KG suffered for way too long.

I think his Minnesota days also proved that he's no better than Dirk as the number 1 option.

IIRC MJ said if the Bulls traded Scottie Pippen for the draft rights to Tracy McGrady he'd want a trade.

More like his Minnesota days proved he's not as good of a #1 option as Dirk is.

KG can be a key piece added for the foundation of a great team. But I do think it's proven that KG is basically a superstar role player. He's along the same lines as a Pippen or Worthy. Can be considered one of the greatest players in his era, has a superstar and franchise resume, but his best role is as a complementary piece to a great team.

Also, I don't believe he ever asked to be traded from Minnesota. I could be wrong, but I thought even as discouraged and frustrated as he was when Minnesota became a bad team, he never demanded a trade. It was McHale and/or the Minnesota owners who figured that it was time to rebuild and trade KG while he still had great value. I remember hearing an interview with Chauncey saying how he and Tyronn Lue had to convince KG to ok the trade to Boston. At any rate, maybe there were other times KG asked for a trade. I don't know. But, I don't think he asked for one, at least the one that got him to Boston.

Would be funny if T-Mac won a title next year.

Jordan demanded the Bulls pay him 30 million for ONE season or he was going to leave Chicago and play for Charlotte based on the principle. A way more shittier move than demanding trade.

Hakeem asked to be traded according to a lot of people IIRC..a few years before Houston won their titles..

Titles are not the end all be all.

Then you haven't played sports at any high level and accept losing. I'm pretty sure if you asked Dirk.... it's his #1 goal and priority.

So, if you are comparing Dirk and KG and they have no titles, why bring up titles? At that point, by your logic you can compare them apples-to-apples.

I am not saying Dirk does not want to win a title. I am saying when comparing players, titles are not the end all, be all. Come on Cobbler...

You're talking to a guy who actually thinks he is part of nba championship teams. Logic is out of the equation.

I responded to "More like his Minnesota days proved he's not as good of a #1 option as Dirk is. "

It was a joke. I think you could argue both ways as to who is a better #1 option.

But lets be realistic, although you may say titles are not the end all, I would argue that they are the MAJORITY of athletes aspirations. I'll bet you my house that Barkley, Malone, Dirk etc etc would give up all their individual accolades for the ring. You disagree?

He demanded the coach be fired or trade him.

No. I agree. That is the goal. But you cannot evaluate players strictly on that. There are so many variables that go into winning a title.

I never ever said i was "a part". I said that I directly contribute to their ships... and I do. It's fact.

Of couse not. But I do find it kind of funny that someone can say KG (who i cannot stand btw) is in any way inferior to Dirk as a #1 option when neither has won the title. (excluding KG's celt title of course)

It's a team sport and the whole #1 option thing is completely absurd to me.

Well... There is a huge history of those #3 thru 5 options making huge plays that enabled championships. Without them they lose and the #1 doesn't get his either. It's a team sport.

ok thank you, I really didn't know if he was known as one, because everyone around here in NJ are Knick fans, and he got no respect from them in NJ on the Nets and now they dodn't care about him since he is on a west coast team.

Yeah, and you could tell by how Raptor fans treated him:lol. Glad he didn't demand a trade away from the Nets like Kidd, he grew up more from his days as a Raptor:toast
