Facebook has many uses. If you have an old friend from Jr high who has been trying to reach you and has no idea where you moved since most 8th graders don't write down the address of every kid in school that move, now they have a chance to get in touch with you.

If you want to know what tim Duncan is doing during the summer or you want to ask Sarah Palin if she eats pork? You need a facebook page. I had no choice sine i tune into the Chris Duel ESPN Zone radio show they always read facebook posts sometimes 30 seconds after you post it. Since I can't use my phone here at my work for calling radio shows it gives me an opportunity to still communicate with others. try PM'ng Kori about something here at ST you may wait a week before she gets back to you.

Facebook has changed a lot since its conception in 2004. And you don't have to be a friend whore to use it a lot. Many companies have dedicated "social media experts" (wtf is that seriously and where do I sign up?) who run the facebook, myspace, twitter accounts, etc. for big name companies.

If they have fan pages and all that jazz they sometime give out codes and insight in to the future of the company. I've added a few non-profits fan pages / groups to get in the loop of volunteer opportunities and they post them there before you hear about them on tv or in the newspaper.

Wasn't there one time when Manu had a contest for his friends? For people like Thunder Dan (and even myself) it is odd (and not that cool) when parents, aunts, uncles, and even grandparents send you a friend request and start commenting on the "I'm so hungover!" status updates.

But, it's the evolution of social media and either you're going to embrace it or you're not going to embrace it. It's not gay, it's not stupid, it's just what is it. It's 2004 anymore - when facebook was only for college students (like many 25-29 year olds wish it would remain) -it's connecting the world (cheesy!).
