Spurs scored in 16 of 20 trips in the 4th quarter. Only a Ginobili missed 3, a Jefferson wing miss, a Parker turnover and a Haislip miss kept the Spurs from having no empty trips.

Granted, it was 2nd game of a b2b but Detroit had no answer for the Spurs' going small in the 4th. Villanueva and Wilcox did not present much of an inside defensive barrier, but the Spurs basically undressed the Pistons at the end.

35 points in 20 trips is impressive.

So how do we get them to start the game this way? Granted I doubt that Pop would start a game going small but it seems when the Spurs start strong and lead after the 1st Q they win the majority of those games - I think the stat is something like 16-4.

And what can we do about the offensive rebounds that the Pistons got? The Spurs clean that up and things would be a lot easier.

But your point is well taken - they were clicking in the 4th and 35 points on 20 trips is impressive. Bottle it!

Wilcox's lack of defensive effort is embarrassing. That guy is so athletic that he should be blocking shots just by accident. To me he's just a lazy player -- I wish the Spurs would have acquired him when he was younger and tried to mold him. When he tries, he can be a beast.

The Spurs D was awesome in the 4th too. It was a clinic quarter. Hopefully, they can start to play this way against the good teams.

Wilcox hasn't played tough D since he left the Clip Joint. Back in those days, 15 & 8 with 1.5 blocks was almost a given.

I thought our defensive intensity increased in the 4th as well.

you really couldn't ask for a better tune up for Dallas. Hopefully by game time everybody on the team suffering from the same thing as Manu was has also recovered.

Always a good sign to see the team put it together in the 4th ! we know since few games now that if we are ok at the end of the 3rd quarter, the game is for us.

Somebody has our record in the 4th quarters ?

edit: just a we for a you

Last night also represented a rare win when trailing after the first quarter. Good to see.

Thanks to the efficiency in the fourth quarter as pointed out by Solid D, the Spurs went from 6th to 4th in the league in offensive efficiency (108.2 to 108.7). That's impressive considering how ugly and turnover-prone the offense has appeared to be at times.

I wonder what teams in the NBA, if any, have ever had a perfect, 100% successful on all possessions quarter? 4th quarter? Are there records kept for this type of statistical category (successful possessions)?

^Maybe the Suns. I don't remember but I think last year there was a game where it was near perfect during a quarter they finished the game with a crazy FG%

I agree that the D was much better in the 4th but I think the Pistons had too many off rebs.
