Will the Spurs be sending the other 'Watch your step' video to the NBA's home office?

I thought RJ's first answer about Dirk getting hot was horrible. That was a lame cop out.

He saved himself though on a subsequent answer by admitting to screwing up defensively in the fourth quarter. Like he said, hopefully he learns from that because his defensively lapses knocked the finger out of the dike.

RJ learning how to defend Dirk better is nice and all, but what exactly are we going to do when it comes to defending in the paint in general?..we can't rely on small ball for this and we don't have the big men to do it either way..

I agree with the general sentiment, but the Mavs are a different animal when it comes to the Spurs. Dirk plays on the perimeter dragging away one of our best defensive rebounders or he forces the Spurs to play small and become even more vulnerable on the boards and defending the paint. Combined that with someone like Kidd who does a mean Oberto impression (tipping out balls from the point-guard position) and offensive rebounders like Damp, Nowitzki, Gooden, Marion and Howard, and it's just a bad matchup for the Spurs in that aspect.

While I definitely believe the Spurs need to upgrade the front court to win a Championship, I don't think that player will necessarily help them against the Mavs; I don't believe they really need anyone outside the roster to beat the Mavs, though. The Spurs have looked to be a better team, imo, that's just yet to put together all the pieces. The Mavs are a really solid team; the Spurs have the means to be better..

I agree Blackjack. The Mavs are a damn good team, but their upside is what it is. They can get hot and beat anyone. I truly feel the Spurs have the capability to beat the Mavs as is. The key will be will the Spurs be able to reach that level? They have the talent, but can they put it together?
