Just thinking, like the Gasol trade, and the Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett deals, (though Al Jefferson turned out to be a stud), will there ever be another trade where it appears to be collusion, or just straight up robbery on the part of dumbass GM's?

Yeah because last time I checked Chris Wallace is still a GM.

Marc Gasol is legit.

The Gasol trade was not a bad one at all...in hindsight.

Considering Wallace didn't even tell teams Gasol was available or wait to take any offers from other teams, it's still a horrible trade.

No one would have predicted then that Marc Gasol would become a legit NBA player; the Grizzlies didn't make the trade with the knowledge we now have. Marc Gasol could become the GOAT and it still wouldn't change the fact that the trade at the time was collusion. They didn't shop Pau around at all (just to see what they could get), they traded him as a favor.

and also

Al Jefferson was already a stud in Boston. He was putting up 16 ppg, 11 rebounds per game in Boston

Jefferson is coming off a horrible knee injury. Once he gets completely comfortable playing (assuming he will), he'll be back to being much better than Pau's little brother.

you mean the richard jefferson trade wasn't a video game trade, all the spurs did was give up trash for that triple double machine

A lot of that is him trying to play in the triangle. His play hasn't regressed - he's in a system he can't seem to grasp... none of that Wolves team seem to get it at all, which isn't really surprising given that I've read it can take a season or more to be comfortable in, and they don't have Tex around... :lol

As long as there are franchises in financial trouble, I'd say yes.

Wasn't allen traded for the 5th pick(Jeff Green)? If so, I'd say both sides did well on that deal. Green is a beast, extremely underrated, and only getting better.

At the time, Ray was obviously regarded as a really good player, and adding him and Garnett with Pierce looked like a steal.....Still does, but not as much now since they are getting older

The Zach Randolph/Quentin Richardson trade was pretty video game-nesque if you ask me.

And you can actually make trades that net you cap room and young talent/picks. Trick is, you have to discuss such possible trades with 29 teams to find the best deal, instead of just 1.

And if cap room is your primary concern, it's a bit odd to trade a talented high-salary player for nothing (at the time), and a year later trade for a less-talented high-salary player.

Iggy possibly, but Toronto will want more than what we have, hell they probably want more than just Bynum if the Lakers are intent on trading for him

Why do you keep bringing this up when it is well documented that Pau was on the block for over a year and Chicago had offers on the table 3-4 weeks prior to the trade. You are Spreading BS.

In hindsight... the Lakers would be better off had they not made the trade at all. They would lose the 2008 finals appearance and 2009 title of course. But now they would have Marc at PF and could have used the expiring and picks to obtain a upper echelon PG.

All the collusion talk is BS. Put up the proof or shut up about it already. The history of the NBA is riddled with what are considered lopsided trades. Some, in hindsight aren't as lopsided as thought. The Pau deal ended up being a good move for both teams. Deal with it as you are chewing on those sour grapes. :whine

How is it sour grapes when YOU just said the Lakers would have been better off not making the trade?

Gasol for Kwame Brown (+ whatever else the Grizzles got) would be rejected in a video game.
