Well I bet on Arizona, so at least I'm going to win..the Packers were HEAVILY hyped to the point that Arizona went from being favored to start the week to being 2-point underdogs by today..
Green Bay doesn't respond well to pressure..they started off poorly with all the hype this season, then they went on a hot streak when everybody slept on them..now they're hyped again, and they're choking..
You have to bet on the underdog home team when 2 teams are even and EVERYBODY is jumping on one team's bandwagon..
Hank the Tank

No way. The Saints are very very beatable. No one is intimidated of them anymore. They dropped their final 3 games to end the season and their d isn't very good. I like the Cards in that matchup if it happens.

Cardinals get cocky, then get careless and basically hand the Packers an invite back into this game. Hey Fitz, howsabouts you wrap up! Hey defense, howsabouts you stop committing costly penalties/mistakes! Hey coaches, howsabouts you get in your players' faces and remind them this game isn't over yet, that the Packers aren't going to roll over, and that they still have a lot of work to do to WIN the game. Too much to ask for highly paid professionals?

Dude has one of the quickest releases in the game, if you let him get comfortable going to hot reads against single coverage all game he'll torch you. Especially with Fitz out there in single coverage. You have to get pressure with the front and not give up easy routes while changing coverages.
HarlemHeat37
01-10-2010, 07:11 PM
Warner really is amazingly streaky..he's 85, but he's as good as any QB when he isn't getting shaken up or doesn't throw an INT early..
himat
01-10-2010, 07:11 PM
I know both offenses are great but I don't understand how bad the defenses have been. Packers were #2 and the Cards have a some pretty good DB's.
I want Cards to win. Finally a team in the wild card race that I like is winning. Cincy lost, Eagles lost, Pats lost too.
JMarkJohns
01-10-2010, 07:13 PM
Of course, now the Packer's defense shows up... Cardinals are about to give up the game-tying drive...
Hank the Tank
01-10-2010, 07:13 PM
the only reason the packers stopped em was because the cardinals opted to run the ball twice. they could pass all day on that D.
HarlemHeat37
01-10-2010, 07:13 PM
Green Bay's D was like this before the hot streak and even during it at times..they're very streaky and they'll give you a lot of yards..they're dangerous because they get a lot of INTs and force fumbles..when they play against an offense that can score when they get in a good rhythm, they're vulnerable..
so it's not that surprising..

He actually is a good kicker, but wasn't Nick Folk too. I think he was a Pro Bowler 2 years back. So many kickers have choked this year. That guy who was on Washington but went to Dallas choked too. There are some other guys I can't think of.

Cowboys shut down a red hot eagles offense TWO WEEKS IN A ROW! That front 7 is pretty damn good. Vikes only impressive victory down the stretch was against a Giants team that mailed it in the week before. Any given Sunday while true, isn't going to save the Vikes.

How do you not see Fitz truck Woodson?
Wasn't why the Pack lost, but it was a 3rd rate game from the zebras.
I wouldn't say Rodgers choked breh. His offensive line did in OT and his defense did for the whole game, but not him.
Stupid Rodgers felt overconfident to throw this 60 yds pass... fumble was a punishment for such behaviour

He did choke though..
Choking doesn't mean you had a bad game at all..he had a great game..
Rodgers is a top 5 QB in the NFL IMO..so when he has plays like overthrowing Jennings in OT and fumbling the game to lose in OT, I consider it to be choking..it would be different if he was an average or above average QB, but he isn't..a guy of his caliber is expected to make the big plays when they matter, even if it's his 1st playoff game..
I don't really see how that's not choking..
the Packers lost because of their defense and because of the really poor officiating against them, but Rodgers still did choke..
HarlemHeat37
01-10-2010, 08:39 PM
I hope the Packers do send this game tape for the NFL to review though, some of those calls were really bad..
The Fitzgerald TD where he clearly should have picked up an offensive PI should absolutely be reviewed..Green Bay got called for a phantom roughing the passer on that play AND Jolly was held AND Fitzgerald clearly PI'd Woodson..
Then there was the clear helmet to helmet on Rodgers before he fumbled it to lose..no idea how that isn't called, especially when Reverend Kurt Warner was getting those calls on the other side..
There was a few others bad calls for both teams, but those 2 calls were huge, and I expect Green Bay to make a fuss about it and ask the league to at least look into it..the NFL is better than the NBA in that regard, since they actually take responsibility when their refs fuck up..so hopefully this leads to something..
Green Bay fans are already making noise about this(obviously), so we'll see if the league at least says something..

How do you determine that Rodgers overthrew Jennings on that 60-yard attempt? How do you know he didn't place the ball in the exact right spot, but Jennings ran the wrong route? That ball was in a perfect spot to be caught away from defenders and run for a TD.
As for the fumble, it wasn't from jitters, it was a complete fluke. He was making his reads, went to make a pass, tucked the ball in after Dansby got in his passing lane, only to have a tackler going high accidentally knock the ball out of his hand from his blindside.
Adams didn't intend to cause a fumble, and Rodgers made the right call not to force a pass over the best all-around defensive player of the Cardinals. It was a complete fluke, not a choke.
But there's no telling someone who's mistakenly formed an opinion, gets called out on it, and then digs their heals in.

Sure it matters, if you're calling it a "tuck rule" then the outcome is an incomplete pass. As you pointed out, never incomplete as it never hit the ground. Forward pass gives way to tucked "fumble" gives way to interception return for game-winning touchdown.
If the tuck rule is to bandied about, then the conclusion must be one of two things:
1. incomplete pass upon hitting ground
2. live ball upon being caught without hitting ground

How the fuck could the tuck rule apply, the ball never hit the fuckin ground. Even if Rodger's hand was moving forward it would have just been an interception.

From Peter King's twitter, re: the final play
# Facemask 1: Why there was no facemask called on the final play, when Adams had his hand on Rodgers' mask and drove him to the ground:
# Facemask 2: The referee, Scott Green, stands behind the pocket and has to watch first for the loose ball. Once the ball is out, Green's ...
# Facemask 3: job is to watch ball for possession. He can't watch the QB then. If he saw the facemask, it'd mean he wasn't watching ball.
# Facemask 4: It's a quirky rule, but it's the referee's call--and the ref is charged with possession once the ball is loose.
Or basically...
Why there was no facemask called on the final play, when Adams had his hand on Rodgers' mask and drove him to the ground: The referee, Scott Green, stands behind the pocket and has to watch first for the loose ball. Once the ball is out, Green's job is to watch ball for possession. He can't watch the QB then. If he saw the facemask, it'd mean he wasn't watching ball. He and McFadden both were terrible. It may have been those specific types of receivers. All of the Packers' receivers are big and physical. That's not necessarily true with the Saints. Finley was the biggest issue for McFadden or Adams.

Adams should not be on the field defensively under any circumstances. He's nothing more than a special teams player. McFadden is a great nickel corner, he's struggled as the #2 corner all year and will continue to. A priority in the off season should be a physical #2 corner so McFadden can move to nickel. The lack of depth at the position might really hurt them next week against the Saints who are deep as fuck at receiver. Fortunately they don't have any freak athletes like Jermichael Finley.
Next week will be a shoot out. Two teams that can pass the shit out of the ball but can't defend the pass for shit.

They'd anoint St. Pierre (their 3rd string QB) the starter before Leinart. They've seen enough bad things from Leinart to know enough is enough.
