Sadly, it's difficult to find big bottles of Malta Goya in San Antonio. I find them sometimes at HEB -- but only certain ones and not all the time. As for the Havanna Alajores (or however you spell it), I haven't been able to find them anywhere for years. I have to smuggle them back in from Argentina. :depressed

I've never met anyone who liked either one. Everyone I've let sample thinks Malta Goya is disgusting. Yeah, it's basically malt beer that was murdered before the alcohol was produce but it is so damn good.

Malta's are delicious! But it is definitely a cultural thing. Most people wont like it cause it doesn't say Coke, Big Red or Dr' Pepper on the label.

Naw it's like a combination of a cookie, a cake and biscuits. And then it has some sort of filling. Hard to explain.

Fpoonsie
01-11-2010, 11:29 PM
I brown a 1/2 lb of ground beef, drain it, then throw in some water (half the amount called for per package (I usually use two packages, so 2 cups water total)), bring it to a boil, throw in the noodles, boil for about 3 minutes (just until the noodles get tender), and then add the seasoning.

It's SOOOO white trash, but it's quick, filling, and relatively delicious.

Speaking of old Mexican food items, maybe someone knows the answer to this. It was a Gamesa cookie. They were rings with a hard frosting on them. Either pink, purple, or yellow icing. I remember them from my childhood, but I've never been able to find them or remember the name of them.

I was about to post the same fucking question. I was googling gamesa cookies earlier trying to find them. My grandmother always used to have them for us from when she or a friend or relative would go to Mexico. I miss those cookies and haven't seen em in years. Sadly, I don't think they make them anymore.
