Manu's block on Artest was a momentum changing play and they called it a foul.

I think he was referring to the Manu block that was called foul, but I agree. The Laker run has nothing to do w/ the refs.

No Gasol and Kobe played either gimpy or not at all and they were within 7 late in the game.....props to the Lakers. This was a much needed victory for the Spurs, especially against a shorthanded team.

Now, the Spurs need a Lakers victory tomorrow, as well as a win over the Thunder....maybe they can break free of the stranglehold that OKC has on them.

GO SPURS GO

BTW...tlong, have the Blazers done anything of significance during your lifetime, other than the Jailblazer/Bluntblazer/Trailganster era of embarrassment that tarnished the once proud image of the franchise......maybe it was the drafting of Sam Bowie Jr.

It's hilarious seeing all the Laker fans trying to talk smack to tlong and crying over no Gasol and no Kobe in the 4th as if they are legitimate excuses (w/o of course failing to mention that the Spurs had stretched the lead to as high as 22 WITH Kobe in the game).

Tlong's boys have played with anywhere from 6-8 players missing and yet are still beating quality teams.

So what your saying is that with Tim and/or Tony/Manu out you would fare just as well? You have a good point regarding the Blazers. No excuses. However, on any given day or night ANY TEAM can beat a team top tier or not. Go figure. Lakers blow out the Mavs, Spurs lose to the Mavs yet we lose to the Spurs. I can go on and on with these type of examples. I don't blame you for beating your chest. That was a great win for the Spurs and your team, especially your front office needed that but don't fool yourself to think this was not a "gauging" game for the Spurs brass. Letting our crappy bench come within 7 is still a concern for your team albeit 3rd quarters.

I know you know that with Gasol and Kobe in there it would have been more competitive. Not saying a guaranteed Laker win but competitive nonetheless.

Have you touched on the Blazers record at staples? Look it up. I mentioned several threads ago that if you look back at any championships teams record for that particular year you will notice that ALL teams have that 1 or 2 teams that give fits. It's always been like that. Just a freaky intangible that torments all teams be it because of match-ups, chemistry, etc, etc.

Good win and I extend a congratulatory hand but give me a break. You know that game meant nothing in the scheme of things until EVERYONE plays.

Food for thought.

While I most certainly agree that this game could, in now way, be labeled tha proverbial "measuring stick", some have suggested that the REASON for that strange combination of winning and losing has a lot to do w/ the way each team matches up w/ the other. We won't know for sure until LA's at full strength, however.

Agreed Fpoonsie.

It's all about the matches.

Only idiots would claim players like Manu don't have significant impacts to a teams overall play. I personally wouldn' be happy to see a Laker win without Tim or Manu/Tony on a Spurs team.

It's fools gold for both sides if you ask me until we meet again full-fledged.
Agree?

Agreed. It's unclear as to how EXACTLY we match up until then. :toast

Though, admittedly, I'm happy w/ any win regardless of whichever pieces the opponent may be missing at the time. I've never cared about the "beating the best AT their best to BE the best". If we could play the banged up Blazers, our jizzrag (otherwise known as the "Suns") and a Thunder team missing Durant on our way to the Finals, I'd still be fucking thrilled.

Injuries are a part of a game. I seem to recall plenty of Laker fans gloating when they were scrubbing the Spurs sans-Manu, so I say tough tit.

That's why you have a bench, and it just so happens that the Spurs bench blew the Lakers bench clear outta the water.

This.

fuck the injury excuse about no Kobe/Gasol.... especially coming from a Laker fan.

I dont seem to recall any pity from Laker fan when Manu was out in the WCF. In fact I recall alot of you rubbing that shit in our faces if we tried to use it as an excuse.

No fairy tale cream pie walk through the playoffs this year with every other team injured except the Lakers.

Your right. But for the record, I am not one of those who gloated when Manu was out. He is and will always be key. Agreed.

Our bench is capable of more. Hopefully we make adjustments. I am more than confident you will see another team come the next time we play. :toast

Yep, that was just one of what will hopefully be many matchups this season. Spurs are getting it together, and the Lakers are certainly a different beast at full strength. I think it should make for some great games. :downspin:

Tim Duncan is not a worry for the Lakers.

He is constant like Kobe is constant. It's the other superstars that are going to decide the outcome of the game.

The Spurs need vintage Manu and Tony if they want to beat LA in a 7 game series. They won't have HCA. And they won't have the luxury of playing a banged up team with no Gasol, a barely functioning Kobe, etc. They will likely play a Laker team at full strength that is ready to match whatever intensity they bring.

IMHO it won't even be close if the two teams meet up. 5 games tops.

other superstars wont matter if Spurs bench keeps outscoring Lakers bench by 30 pts

nah, it'll take 5-7 games for Spurs to win the series

I think I am going to be neutral for the Lakers vs. Dallas.

On one hand, I want Dallas to lose because it will put the Spurs closer to the division lead.

On the other, I want Dallas to win because it will make it easier for the Spurs to make a run to tie or even surpass the Lakers for HCA. (I know its a stretch right now, but hey... that is why I am a fan!)
