I jumped off my couch after he saved it, I just knew something good was going to follow that. Spurs just werent going to be denied tonight...this whole game was also a great example of how Manu's value on this team goes way beyond scoring.

Very few players in the league can miss every single one of their shots and still contribute.

I thought it was a self-pass but then the replay from behind the play showed the ball grazed off of Dice's elbow. Manu really sold his body out and went horizontal on it, though.

If there was ever a play that was made purely FTW, it was that one.

I didn't see that on the replay but I figured after some of the calls on Blair we deserved one.

from a different angle it is clearly deflected off of dyess

Last time I checked you can't pass the ball to yourself. Then again it could have glanced off of Dice but it so close that it's hard to tell either way.

Yeah, unless Dice touched it. Still was a play symbolic of who Manu Ginobili is and what he represents to this franchise.

Yeah, I was thinking similarly..."got away with that one.. but he was fouled on his arm on the drive...so it all evens out." Then, FoxSW showed one angle zoomed from the other end of the court (Spurs bench end) and that angle showed the ball skim off McDice. It was very fortunate, though.

No, Green swiped at it and hit it changing it's direction slightly and it then went off Dice.

It was not hard to see, it was so clear from the replays that the ball touched Mcdyess before manu saved it. Great play. Hope that sequence would be chosen as play of the day-wherein Manu saved the ball, passed it to Hill, an then RJ nailed the game-winning shot.

That dive for the ball reminded me of Rodman's (Bulls) dive to save a loose ball. That was sick.

dastrey
01-13-2010, 11:57 PM
What's most impressive is how he 'no-look' saved it directly to Hill, where as most players would just try to keep it in bounds. In a split second he was thinking 2 steps ahead.

Even when Manu has an off night, he should always be in there at the end of a close game. He has what it takes and as Pop has said many times, without Manu we'd only have 1 Championship.

Look how George keeps waiting the ball (hands open) after the very last moment. The Spurs are totally in sync (in terms of passing) with Manu this season.

I won't be surprised if Manu starts to achieve an average of 10 assists per game come playoff time.

I think Manu should be more of a passer than a shooter. Manu's either on fire or terrible, and their is no in between.

I simply love this. Not only does he lay out to get it, but he knows right where George is! Manu may have the best 0-10 game in the league.

The hustle and passes are contagious......

He'd better be a Spur next year!!!!!

Thanks for the giff! Well done!

Doesn't matter, as long as he launched himself from inbounds. That ball is live until it touches something or the ground.

lol it wasn't out of bounds but it was a travel.

They showed one replay angle a couple of minutes later where the course of the ball was altered. My guess is that it barely touched McDyess.

The insane thing is how far out of the play that took Manu, and after one quick pass to George, a swing pass to RJ, two dribbles and a shot attempt, he was literally waiting for the O rebound. I think the recovery was as impressive as the play.

Shit I think he was fathered by one of the basketball gods. Half-Man, Half-basketball god. :lol
In slow motion that play is even more impressive. How in the hell do you dive out of bounds, catch the ball horizontal, throw it to your wing player and save the game? It is one of the many Epic Manu Moments we as fans are lucky to enjoy..

exstatic
01-14-2010, 08:26 AM
How did he even know where to pass it?

He knows the plays, and there would be a man in the corner on that play. I don't even know if he knew it was George, but he knew it was someone. Big ups to Geroge, btw, for staying put, and not reacting to the bad initial pass/miscommunication btw Manu and Dice. If he freelances, that ball goes out on the side.

amazing gutsy play. seriously how lucky are we to be blessed with this guy. Hes 0-10 and yet coming down to the final seconds I still want the ball in his hands.....its rare a player can impact a game so much on a night when he cant buy a bucket.

tremendous win, bigger than the lakers IMO
