-- let Tim rest.

If he doesn't get in as a starter the coaches will pick him. Might as well see if we can help keep his starting streak going.

This is close... I think it could be done.

If the local news channels got involved with this and just quickly mentioned how close this is on the air, encouraging people to vote today, and telling them that they can make the difference.... I bet it would be really close. Express-News could mention it as well.

Gotta be sure to tell 'em not to vote for Dirk too, cause that cancels out the vote.

Dirk deserves the start. Timmy has been great, but he's only playing about 30 min a game and has a better supporting cast. Dirk has carried his team all season on his back with inconsistent help to a better record. I hate mavs but I can't honestly say Dirk doesn't deserve the start more this season.

Dirk will start in the all-star game in Dallas. Mark Cuban will see to it if he has to hire a thousand people to vote for Dirk every day.

Duncan has been putting up career numbers in extremely low minutes.

Dirk: 25.3 ppg on 47.1%, 8.2 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1 spg, 1.2 bpg in 38 minutes

Duncan: 19.9 ppg on 55.1%, 10.4 rpg, 3.2 apg, .6 spg, 1.8 bpg in 32 minutes

To say nothing of the intangibles Duncan brings to the table, or the defensive presence.

Dirk is awesome, but I'm still betting nearly every GM out there would rather have Duncan, even for just this season. The only category Dirk is clearly better than Tim now is in scoring. Everything else still belongs to 21.

This is all star game starter, not who would you start a franchise with discussion. IMO Dirk deserves the starting nod for carrying his team to 1st place in the division to this point as really the only thing close to clutch performer on that team.

This seems to be working for some but not for others. Worth a try if you want to vote more than once a day.

To vote multiple times without waiting the 24 hours:

...go to http://wap.nba.com/asb and in incognito mode of google chrome you can vote as many time as you want (close chrome and reopen each time)

Btw, you don't have to close Chrome, just press the arrow next to the wrench on the top right and hit "new incognito window", paste the URL into the address bar, hit Western Conference (you don't need to vote for both conferences to submit a ballot), and vote for the 5 Spurs and submit.

All Spurs fans should do this :toast

Alternative multi vote strategy:

Go to http://www.nba.com/widgets/ and find the 'All-Star Widget'click the Check out this widget! link.
The ballot will open below, click 'vote now', select Tim Duncan and anyone else you'd like then hit submit.
You must use a unique email everytime. I suggest you use throwaway email services like dodgit.com (http://dodgit.com/) or mailinator.com (http://mailinator.com/) etc
Type in the captcha and hit submit. +1 for TD :hat
To vote again, clear cookies for nba.com then repeat the process. I use this firefox add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/12766 (after it's installed, right click on the webpage, kill cookies>kill all cookies for nba.com, then open the widget page in a new tab)

I know this is somewhat hypocritical because the Spurs argued on Duncan's behalf just two years ago to have him changed from a C to a F on the ballot, but he really should be changed to a C at this point. Let's face it, last season and this season, he has played strictly center. Why is Stoudemire, who starts and mostly plays F, listed as a C? It makes no sense and because of this, he, not Duncan, will be the man in the middle for the West.

This is how the All-Star teams should be...

East

Starters: PF- Bosh, SF- James, C- Howard, SG- Wade, PG- Rondo

Bench: PF- Garnett, SF/SG- Pierce, PG- Williams, SG- Johnson, PF/SF- Smith, PF/C- Horford, SF- Wallace

West

Starters: PF- Nowitzki, SF- Anthony, C- Duncan, SG- Bryant, PG- Nash

Bench: PG- Paul, PF- Stoudemire, SG/PG- Roy, PF/C- Gasol, SF- Durant, PG- Williams, PF- Randolph

Personally, I couldn't agree more with this. Duncan hasn't been a PF since Robinson left. But Spurfans are the ones who get boners calling Timmy the best PF of all time, so you can't have it both ways.

HarlemHeat37
01-16-2010, 07:41 PM
To be fair, I believe Duncan started out as a PF and became a C as age has restricted some of his athleticism and mobility..so I don't think it's a stretch..I also don't care about the "best PF of all-time" label..

That may be the case now, but for a long time I think it was mainly because he could play center and you couldn't find a better player to play the position in the league (not only because of his ability, but just based on the sheer fact that it's the toughest position in the league to fill, which is why so many teams are now playing PF's there), particularly when you're picking low in the draft and unwilling to pay the tax annually.

From 97-03, he was mostly a PF, then from 03-08 he was a combination of PF/C and from 08-present he's been almost strictly a C.

The vote count in the thread title is completely made up. The NBA hasn't released voting returns since Jan 7th, at which point Dirk had a 50,000-vote lead over Duncan. The reason there's no link for an up-to-the-minute count is that there isn't one.

Dirk is getting Germanic help.

We need some spurstalkers to go pimp Duncan on a Chinese message board so we can get the foreign bump.
