There are 7 teams in the West with 17 or 18 losses (Portland, Phoenix, New Orleans, Houston, Memphis, Utah, Oklahoma City) competing for the 5-8 playoff spots. Which 4 will make the playoffs?

Oh, and I made the poll so you can vote for more than 1, since I'm trying to make this a legitimate thread, don't be a cuck and vote for all 7 teams.

Well see who wins today then brah. I know I'll get shit for not picking Phoenix, but they're 10-14 after a 14-3 start. IMO the 10-14 is a way better reflection of the team they are.

You may be right, my reasoning was that Memphis is still too young and needs another year together to gel as a unit and would fade down the stretch. I'm by no means a fortune teller though. Just don't sneak in as the 8th seed and add insult to injury during the inevitable Laker curbstomping :lmao

I'd like to see Memphis and OKC in the playoffs because they're something new and they'll probably be beat the Spurs in a seven game series. That would be hilarious.

Phoenix Suns: 24-18
Started: 14-3
Since: 10-15

Memphis Grizzlies: 22-18
Started: 1-8
Since: 21-10

lol picking Phoenix over Memphis.

I'm gonna have to go with Utah instead of Phoenix now..

Not that I think Phoenix doesn't have the talent to make it, but with the current slump, I think they'll eventually trade Stoudemire at the deadline too, so I don't think they'll be really serious about winning this year..

Wrong, people overthink why Phoenix is struggling. It's pretty simple, their roster is composed mostly of one dimensional players and it's a roster with extremely limited talent. Effort and hustle can only get you so far on defense, the Suns lack the players it takes to play good defense.

I put memphis, portland, utah, and okc. Okc idk though, phoenix still could be in that last spot. DOK i was looking at suns stats and noticed how much channing frye shoots the 3 ball and i was :rollin. He's shooting it pretty well though, Im just am kind of shocked in a wtf way. He has the 4th most attempts and 2nd most makes. ha, never would've thought.

He sucked royally tonight. It was a pretty embarrassing moment for U of A, he pulled a Lamar Odom stepping over the out of bounds line when he was trying to inbound the ball after a made shot. He's about to lose a ton of minutes and his nice start will be an afterthought.

But yeah, I had no idea he'd play so well :lol

Damn, AB, you can't even count...! The # is 4, NOT 5.

You probably think your Lakers are actually the Clippers. How many times have you been the feature of Jay Leno's 'Jay Walking'? I knew I had seen you somewhere. And for the record, knucklehead, the Spurs will make the playoffs.

I think its still to early to say whos going to get the final spots!

Lakers
Mavs
Spurs
Denver

Book it, these teams are getting to the playoffs! Whether you like the team or not!

Utah
Thunder
Houston
Suns

will get the final spots in no particular order

Still, its up in the air, i wont be suprise if just one of the last four teams i mentioned make it, and Mempis, Hornets and Portland are in!

I think Portland will lose a spot because they just have to many injuries! But who knows, they got the personnel to grind it out and make the playoffs!

I'd like to see the splits of how many home/road, games against +.500 teams and b2bs each team has left before venturing a guess.

Easiest remaining schedule according to strength of opponent (not accounting for road games). Similar to a look vs .500 teams:

1. Rockets (easiest)
2. Mavs
3. Jazz
4. Suns
5. Thunda
6. Lakers
7. Clippers
8. Grizzlies
9. Blazers
10. Hornets
11. Spurs
12. Nuggets (hardest)

Ghazi

ooo so the Mavs have an easy schedule while Spurs/Nuggets have difficult schedules.

2nd seed is ours!

Lakers/Mavs will be an EPIC WCF.

Road games remaining:

Suns 18
Rockets 18
Mavs 20
Hornets 20
Thunda 21
Grizz 21
Blazers 22
Nugs 22
Jazz 22
Clippers 23
Spurs 24
Lakers 26

Looking at those numbers:

1) Clippers are bye bye
2) Jazz are probably screwed since they suck on the road
3) Mavs will probably keep #2 and maybe get #1 if Lakers falter on the road
4) Suns moving on up
5) Nuggz, Spurs, Blazers are headed for a drop
6) Grizz and Thunda have a high probability of making the Playoffs

DUNCANownsKOBE2
01-19-2010, 07:10 PM
4) Suns moving on up

:lmao, yeah, a team that starts 14-3 and then goes 10-15 is definitely on its way up!

Are you kidding me? The Suns have it good to close out the year. They have the fewest road games left of any WC team.

They've already finished ALL 9 of the tough Eastern games (Cavs/Celtics, Hawks, Magic, Heat). They have 1 home game left versus the Hawks.

They just have to go 50/50 on their tough WC teams and beat most of the teams they should beat to place #4.

My guess in the West.

1. Lakers
2. Mavs
3. Suns

It goes beyond schedule at this point with Phoenix. They don't have a double digit win in 2010, ALL of their games are tough at this point. They have the 2nd worst defensive rating in the NBA, have the 3rd most turnovers, and have the 2nd lowest defensive rebounding rate. They're no better than the teams they play in games that used to be considered gimme games.

If it weren't the fact that I used to hate the Suns, I'd take you up on a sig bet for the final rankings :lol

I'm telling you, those Suns got it good to finish the year; it's going to take major FAIL to place below #4.

I'm not gonna make a sig bet against the Suns regardless, since they don't have a draft pick this year, I guess I'd prefer them make the playoffs then get skull fucked rather than hand OKC a lottery pick, but I could really care less.

The Steve Nash Suns have NEVER finished the year well, they ALWAYS had a better pre AS break win % than post AS break win %, last year being the exception because they decided to tank games till Porter was fired. They are 6th in the West right now and have shown no indication they'll be able to turn it around and move up, so idk where that 4th place prediction comes from.
