I have a desktop vomputer that I bought in the summer of 2006 (still running on XP:p:), but it has been frequently for the last 2 weeks; I find myself having to reboot it
I've ran CCLeaner, scans, did a defrag, etc...
I also checked the bios, power management, and the temperature is within normal ranges (so no overheating).

Since I have wifi, I'm considering buying a laptop; I personally prefer desktops because you can upgrade them, but hey laptopts look cooler :D

So, whaddayhave?

I have a monster laptop with Windows 7 and Virtual Box running 10+ operating systems

I also have a monster desktop which I built but I have no time to use it. It is collecting dust :(

really, at this point since you can have a beast of a laptop, no point having a desktop anymore.

Yep; but aren't desktops motherboards easier to upgrade?

Actually, yesterday I removed Google Chrome ands that fucking overrated browser not only froze my PC, but also slowed down my Wi-fi in the process
Right after I removed Chrome, wifi was running smoothly.
The desktop is doing better, but still laggy sometimes

But laptops with Windows 7 do look sleek :D

I have both, currently. Other than the fact that I can use the laptop in bed and take it with me when I travel, though, it's completely redundant and unnecessary to have both.

Since my desktop is finally starting to show its age in a few annoying ways, I think when I move I'm going to get (or build depending on how ambitious I feel) a new computer that is super fast, but fairly stripped in terms of software. I like the idea of having one hooked up to the TV to use almost exclusively for downloading/storing/streaming media and going online. Gaming too, perhaps, but since I've already got a PS3 and am planning on trading my Wii for a 360 I doubt I'd even have the time/need for another gaming device.

The only time I brought my work laptop home is when my desktop was down.
I prefer not to birng it home because it reminds me of work :bang

By the way, for those who have Windows 7, do you have Premium or Ultimate?

Is it iworth it to have Ultimate?

Probably the best feature differentiating the two is that Pro and Ultimate have an "XP compatibility Mode".

i think Professional is the best deal. cheaper than ultimate, but you still get almost everything (excluding bitlocker and few more). oh and XP mode is available.

Thanks for claryfying

Based on that, I'm not gonna buy Ultimate, it seems expensive.

Home Premium is the cheapest; I'm not sure I'm gonna need all the features Pro and Ultimate have.

I have a tablet for work/school and Netflix/Hulu. I have a desktop for gaming, video editing, movie watching with friends.
I also have a file server, with full computer backups.

Laptop and htpc. I'll probably get around to another desktop at some point. I wipe them and give them to family members when I want to build/buy a new computer.

Since I removed Google Chrome, my PC is working much better.

Even my Wifi at home was affected by Chrome.

It think the most recent version of Chrome doesn't work well on XP.

Desktop
Q6600 @3.2Ghz
Gigabyte P45
CoolerMaster 690CM
8GB OCZ DDR2 800
2 x XFX Radeon 4770 in Crossfire
2x WD Raptor 74gb hdd in RAID-0
2 x 21" 1680x1050 monitors

Laptop
TX2500Z Tablet
AMD x2 zm-80 @ 2.1Ghz
8GB DDR2 800 Topram
OCZ Vertex 60GB
12.1" screen
8-Cell battery
OneNote 2010

I take notes on the laptop, watch the occasional hulu/netflix video and do my Skyping on my lappy.
I do any torrenting, video editing, video recording (DVR stuff) video transfers, backups, troubleshooting on the desktop. Excel is so much nicer on a vertical monitor, and web browsing on 2 screens is far far far more productive.
