Bryant again reigns as NBA's most popular jersey (http://www.nba.com/2010/news/01/20/jersey.sales/?ls=iref:nbahpt2)
By Official Release

NEW YORK -- The Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant has retained the top spot on the NBA's Most Popular Jerseys list, the ranking he has held since the start of the 2008-09 season. The rankings are based on sales at the NBA Store in New York City and NBAStore.com since the start of the 2009-10 NBA season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James maintains the No. 2 spot, while the Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard and the Chicago Bulls' Derrick Rose appear in the Top 5 for the first time. Howard makes a dramatic jump, moving from No. 10 to No. 3 on this year's list. Rose's popularity continues to grow and moves into the No.4 spot from No.11 last season. The Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade rounds out the Top 5.

Shaquille O'Neal makes his way back into the Top 10 for the first time since June 2008 at the No. 9 spot, while Kevin Durant re-emerges on the list for the first time since January 2008. Denver Nuggets' Carmelo Anthony also moved up the list from No. 15 to No. 11.

The Los Angeles Lakers once again top the list of Most Popular NBA Team Merchandise. The Boston Celtics hold on to the No.2 spot for the second year in a row while, the Cleveland Cavaliers move up from No. 4 last season to No. 3.

This season marks the fourth with adidas as the official oncourt uniform and apparel provider for the NBA. Below are the NBA's Most Popular Jersey and the Most Popular Team Merchandise lists.

Kobe made the switch to # 24 about three years ago, im sure most Laker fans already bought their jerseys around that 3 year timeframe. So why the hell is this rapist still leading? Is this rigged? :bang

They go by volume. Kobe, Lebron, Wade alone have all sold more jerseys than the entire Spurs roster jerseys.

Kobe has been #1 in seasons the Lakers were not successful as well. A lot of people like him. He was by far the most popular member of Team USA among the Chinese fans during the olympics.

I understand the Knicks connection, still didn't think David Lee would be that popular, but he's got game so good for him.

I disagree about Rose though. that first round series with Boston made him a star. He hasn't shown his best this season but everyone already knows he has it.. I'm sure playing in Chicago does have something to do with it. Just a different scenario for him though.

True that. That Rose/Rondo matchup was pretty epic.

Rose is just having a little sophmore slump. He is legit, that's for sure:toast

NBA opened a store in China did'nt they? How about in Europe? They should count numbers of Jersey sales ordered for them overseas. I think thats a much better indicator.

I remember a few years ago Marbury was in the Top 5 eventhough his career was in shambles in New York. This is why I dont put too much weight in these rankings.

Only in America/LA can you rape a girl, cheat on your wife, throw your teammates under then buss, get Shaq traded and still be the #1 Jersey.

How is David Lee's jersey more popular than Dirk's or Kidd's? I know that David Lee plays for the Knicks but he is not even on the same talent level or popularity as Dirk.

The Shaq trade worked out nicely in the end though didn't it? Kobe gets credit for his foresight and GM skills there.

Animal furs are very important for us to keep warm when the winter season comes. Fox furs are very comfortable. But it is the great grizzly bear whose fur is rare to use as clothing. The grizzly is difficult to kill and its fur very prestigious to adorn. We believe that when you wear an animal's fur, you carry the spirit of that animal for as long as you wear it. And when I say that, I mean when you wear a Kobe Bryant jersey, you rape teenage white girls from the back and fracture your fingers in their booty holes. But you don't stop playing.

son Lee is EASILY on the same talent level as both Dirk and Kidd. unlike Dirk, he can actually rebound the basketball consistently and put up a double double every night. If the refs blew the whistle for Lee just HALF as much as they do for Dirk than he would easily be putting up 20 and 10.

without question ... Lee is putting up 19 and 11 and is steadily improving his game every year. the best part about it is that he gets next to NO help from the refs unlike Dirk who has made his living at the free throw line. Lee is only getting to the line 4 times per game and he has a solid post game. how is it that a post player like Lee only gets to the line 4 times per game, but a jump shooter like Dirk gets to the line 7-8 times per game? Lee shoots the ball better than Dirk (other than 3's of course), rebounds MUCH better, and plays better defense. Its absolutely amazing that Lee is putting up nearly 20pts per game despite the fact that he gets nowhere near the help that Dirk gets.

Once Lee makes the All Star team this year I'm sure help from the refs will follow. Expect his free throw attempts to jump up.
