I've really been rooting for Charlotte to do well this season and make the playoffs for the first time in franchise history, but I've been shocked by just how well they've flourished lately.

To anyone who has watched them play lately, what are your thoughts on this team? Barring major injuries, are they a lock for the playoffs? Do they have the tools to really compete in the first round, and if so against which teams?

Edit: At the time of this posting, they are up 61-34 against Miami at the half. :)

Any team with Gana Diop aka Bill Russell is going to be good

Pretty solid due to the S-Jax trade. They would be a lot better if they still had Okafor:hat

Potentially they are an extremely difficult cover at three positions (Diaw/Crash/SJax). All are long, multi-talented disruptive players (well...in the case of Diaw only when he's heading towards the buffet table). Diaw jokes aside, as he's played better the team has been winning. Nazr has been surprisingly solid as a starter and Felton, even with his scoring down, has been more efficient from the field.

Larry Brown has them playing some good ball. If that starting line-up continues clicking, they could be a team no one wants to play after the all-star break...but to sneak into the playoffs and make some noise? I doubt it. There is still the ever-present injury risk with Crash and over-eating issue with Diaw.

if Diaw would play like half the player he once was and Okafor was still in Charolotte, this team would be #5 in the east

Heres a team that can upset someone in the east playoffs. Keying in on offensive weaknesses can be deadly. Destroying the Heat tonight was very impressive.

Their road record is pretty much the only negative you can say about this team. The Bobcats have one the best home records in the league this year. I'm hoping they make the playoffs as well.
