1. Having a strong bond with Tim Duncan that ensured he would stay with the Spurs in 2000 when the grass looked a hell of a lot greener in Orlando.
2. Drafting Tony Parker and making him a starter 4 games in.
3. Manu Ginobili with one of the last picks in the draft. Then having the patience to leave him at Kinder Bologna long enough to develop into a star.
4. Trading Bill Curley for Sean Elliott. Trades don't get any more lopsided than that.
5. Bringing David Robinson back when the conventional wisdom was to get young at any expense (i.e., not overreacting to the LA sweep like all the fans did, myself included).
6. Bruce Bowen for the vet minimum!!!
7. Believing in Malik Rose when he was a nobody.
8. Getting Robert Horry, who saved the team's asses in Denver and Detroit.
9. Resurrecting the career of Stephen Jackson when he was considered a cancer.
10. Finding a graceful way to opt out of paying Derek Anderson a bad contract.
11. Getting Mario Elie to replace soft-ass Vinny Del Negro. No way the 99 team puts it all together without Super Mario on their asses.
12. Suckering NY into taking Malik Rose once he went on the decline in exchange for Nazr Mohammed, who was a major contributor to the 05 title.
13. Antonio Daniels for Steve Kerr in 2002-03. Kerr was an enormous asset in the regular season with Claxton injured.
