It appears Chicago has found a bench scorer: Bulls and Hornets are near Aaron Gray for Devin Brown trade, sources say.

Just filed to ESPN: Hornets are trading Devin Brown for Aaron Gray. Deal will be official later Monday
Hornets need extra big and wanted Gray for their bench. Bulls need another shooter so wanted Brown, who had lost PT to rook Marcus Thornton

Hornets picking up Aaron Gray was a pretty good move.

Small trade but one that actually makes sense for both teams.
I wonder what Denver was offering for Gray last week?

Hornets still need one more trade to get under tax threshold. Tax benefit of swapping Devin Brown for Gray is only savings of roughly $100K
Hornets still roughly $425,000 over tax line. Getting under gets you nearly $5 million. All non-tax teams collect such a check in the summer

Downtown Devin Brown is almost as good as Kobe as far as chucking goes. I don't know why Hornets would trade him to save only $100k and not be under the tax.
Br won't like this one bit

Word out for some time that Bulls hoped to find shooter on an expiring deal. Not easy to find. Brown's a guy who's had some big games for NO
You'll recall NO nearly traded Devin to 'Sota. Deal couldn't work unless he waived part of his trade kicker. Brown, then a starter, declined

Aaron Gray is a legit 7 foot and 270 pounds.
NO needed a real center instead of all these 6'9 guys trying to play center.
Downtown Devin Brown just became Chitown Devin Brown. Put out the shower rod alert for BRHornet45.

Shouldn't it be "God bless, son" instead of "God bless, sons" then? I thought he was implying that maybe the Hornets will have to trade talent away just for a little bit of money and maybe the Spurs could benefit from that.

I like it if true. Both Browns didn't provide much. Only question will be depth in the backcourt, but I guess Mo-Pete gets more playing time.

I liked Devin's game a lot when he was slashing and playing good D. We did need another Center, thats for sure. Gray gives us size(a 7-footer).
Also, Thornton's minutes will spike and he should be the starting SG now. If we aren't contending, we might as well be developing our young talent.
Was it a good basketball trade? I guess we will soon find out.
