Full-Court Press: Spurs and Bulls just trippin' (http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/Full-Court_Press_Spurs_and_Bulls_just_trippin.html)

One of the NBA’s youngest teams (the Chicago Bulls, coached by former Spur Vinny Del Negro) visited its most geriatric (guess who?) Monday night on its latest annual Western swing. Sure, the Spurs’ rodeo road trip is no picnic. But how would you like it if elephants, princesses and Disney Villains were responsible for evicting your team twice each season? A comparison since 2005-06:

Conclusion: Chicago has a 23-42 trip mark since 2005-06, finally besting the Spurs’ rodeo win total Saturday at Houston. That’s with the Spurs having taken half as many trips and having a year in hand. Chicago’s excursions often last six or seven games apiece and are continuous.

The Spurs’ trip lasts eight or nine games, but they often break up the Western and Eastern portions by coming home with as much as five days off. On next month’s trip, they’ll have help from the All-Star break. Translation: The Spurs can sleep in their own beds, maybe even catch some of the rodeo action.

Monday’s win gave the Bulls a 2-2 split with the Spurs on such trips. With games remaining at Oklahoma City and at New Orleans, the Bulls have a chance to finish above .500 for only the second time on their combined jaunts in this five-year span. The Spurs often make their annual trek to Chicago before the rodeo trip.

About the only thing the teams’ journeys have in common: Their home arenas require substantial disinfecting when they’re all said and done. No offense, Fairy Godmother.
