Black's sucks. Smitty's has great ribs, good everything else, but not outstanding. Kreuz is ok. City Market in Luling is better than any place in Lockhart.

Blacks always seems dirty to me

kreuz is good but Smitty's (formerly the 1st kreuz) is better IMO

Chisolm Trail is ok, cheaper and has a drive through.

Go to all three but skip blacks.

so you're not a new driver...

so your underlying intention must be to have someone ask you what kind of new car you got. Why don't you just start a thread bragging about your new car instead? Why beat around the bush? There is not shit and Lockhart and you know it.

I could care less if anyone asked me what kind of car I got ... If it was about the car I would have posted about the car.

It's about going to Lockhart ...

Nuff said.

I suggest you take a break ...

is that English? I assume you meant there is not shit IN Lockhart? It may not be a prime tourist destination, but people go there all the time for BBQ as with some other prime Texas locations

When I went I thought Smitty's had killer brisket, while City Market had much better sausage and ribs. Overall I agree that City Market is the better of the two.

Way better than watery Guinness Draught, and still preferable to the FAR better of the Guinness' (Guinness Extra Stout). It's got a bit of a smokey flavor, as advertised. Here's what beeradvocate has to say:

On tap at the Sunset Cantina.

Thick webby lacing riding off the tawny brown colour. Estery smoky aroma and malty nose. Spicy alcohol flavour with a smoke charcoal malt in the middle. Big maltiness with a light hop balance, some mellow chocolaty malt flavours in the end with a lingering faint smoke. Good stuff on tap and one of the better porters on tap I have had, bring it on.

B+ / 3.8
look: 3.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | drink: 3

Presentation: 22 oz brown bomber with a silk screen painted label of the "Stone Brewing Gargoyle" which wards off impurities that would otherwise taint the sanctity of the brew.

Appearance: Deep dark ruby brown with a light brown creamy lace.

Smell: The aroma is like a sweet creamy cafe late with a hint of smoke.

Taste: Very rich and full bodied with a smooth and crisp mouth feel. Luscious chocolate and coffee roasted malt flavours with a mild smoky taste linger on and on. Hints of charcoal and toasted malt are on the tongue as well as a level hop bitterness which seems to work out perfect.

Notes: Quite a robust brew ... fat and chewy and not for the weak, if you don't like BIG PORTERS than this is not your beer. A well crafted brew, enjoy this with a home cooked meal.

Serving type: bottle

It's not my favorite porter or stout (that would be Rogue Chocolate Stout), but it's pretty damn good and goes great with BBQ.

I'm a big fan of Chisholm Trail Barbaque.

The town square is kind of cool to check out. It's been used as a location in Gilbert Grape, Waiting for Guffman, Stop Loss and probably a bunch of other movies that I don't know about.
