^That's real good.

I paint landscapes using oil colors and have done several pen and pencil surrealist drawings. Unfortunately, I haven't taken any pictures of them.

The Club has a very large group of talented people, but they don't want to feel as though they are bragging. But I know 2Blonde, and Kori are real artists I hope they post some 0f their work.

I have the 2 above it. "Orange Pole & Blue Pole" Then, I have another that's not on his site. If you check out his myspace page, he has more. And if you if you are in the Austin area, your kids could have him as an art teacher.

He does shows in galleries & his stuff is for sale.

how much did you pay for "orange pole and blue pole", if you don't mind my asking?

just trying to get an idea of cost. ballpark figure would be fine.

I would like your honest opinion. There is an artist he's at least 80 something years old but he does many computer/photo shop generated type art images.

He entered this contest and I thought for sure if he didn't win he would come in second or third. but get this, not only did he not come in the top three, he didn't even get honorable mentions.

Normaly I really don't care about how art is judged but in this case I think you might see my point as I will post the winners.

Here is the mans artwork.

here is some of his other work.

he cleverly used plumbing parts to make his image and I loved the creativity and the colors,

Depends on the size of the painting. The Orange / Blue Pole ones that I have are fairly big. THey were done on tall cabinet doors. The 3rd one I have was done on glass & framed. I paid about $300 for the 2 & he gave me the 3rd.

To me, it looks more complex, regardless of how little sense either of them make.

Of course, I have no idea what makes art "art". I'm simply giving my very humble, uneducated opinion.

art is subjective but i'd say most definitely that piece is way better than that faucet piece. composition and all!

Ah. I thought maybe you had done it 3rd person or some other enlightening artsy reason. Good either way. I went to the Montreaux Jazz Festival back in 95 and I have the official poster of the festival that was done by Bowie. Cool stuff. I like your work.

Well that is true, I guess being a judge at an art galley is almost like an oxymoron since who really has a clue what art is?

Good observations, I must say topics about art and wallpapers people ask for honest opinions but sometimes get offended by them. I guess I was way off base thinking the faucet head art was good.

That art work was creative and brought to life a plumbing fixture not to mention the colors blended well. I thought for sure it would come in second or third.
I guess that's the beauty of art it's unpredictable!

see you at the next monthly event. Thanks for letting me add my 2cents!

Mark,

Your comment is certainly welcome and appreciated.

But I am sorry your art selection(s) did not win. Of course, there is no accounting for tastes and clearly the
difficult effort to judge is based on subjective factors. Objective standards are few and each judge
must rely on his or her own psychology and experience. You can be assured we try to honor the best art we can
as winners. Also, we make mistakes and change our minds, unfortunately too late!

Best regards,
Don
