I have Cricket and I am thinking about getting a new phone. I was just curious what phone everyone has and their opinion about the phones they have available. Im leaning toward the TXTM8 or the Samsung Messager II. Also exploring possiblility of flashing a different phone but worried about not having insurance.

Any suggestions??

and Im not changing carriers.

TXTM8
that's the cricket phone that I got for my 12 year old son less than 3 mos. ago. After 2 months, his sound quit working... he has had to use vibrate all this month.

we went to the cricket service center, and they checked it out and said it needed replacing. They did not have any of that phone, they said it was very popular and they are always 'sold out'. Even though I am paying insurance, $5 monthly, I will still have to pay $45 for a replacement when they get one in.

interesting, ok. Ive heard good reviews about both the TXTM8 and the Messager II.

The Android smartphone is the recently-announced Kyocera Zio M6000 (http://www.unwiredview.com/2010/03/25/kyocera-shows-off-android-based-zio-at-ctia-2010/), which should be available at Cricket starting July. The handset features a 3.5 inch WVGA touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.2MP camera, and it will cost $299 (free of contract, of course).
In August, Cricket will start selling the BlackBerry Curve 8530, for $349.99 (as you probably know, the Curve 8530 is already available via Verizon and Sprint).

Other phones that will be released by Cricket this year:

Samsung r710 (in the fourth quarter) – it’s a Brew-based touchscreen phone with a 3 inch WQVGA display, EV-DO, HTML browser, stereo Bluetooth and 3MP camera. The r710 should cost $249.99
Samsung r631 (in the third quarter) – will cost $199.99. It’s a touchscreen phone with a full QWERTY keyboard, HTML browser, stereo Bluetooth and 2MP camera
Kyocera RIO E3100 (in November), a full touch handset featuring a QVGA display and a 1.3MP camera. It will cost $159.99
Cricket TXTM8 3G A410 (September, $159.99), a candybar with EV-DO, QVGA display, QWERTY keypad and HTML browser
Cricket MSGM8 II (July) – another QWERTY cnadybar with a 220 x 176 pixels screen, Bluetooth and 1.3MP camera
Cricket CAPTR II (July) – simple flip phone, should cost $129.99.
