lol @People who say that Toyota makes the best cars and that American brands suck

Toyota has to suspend selling 2009-10 models of the Rav4, Corolla, Matrix, Avalon, Camry, Highlander, Tundra and Sequoia because their accelerators stick and kill people.

Not just the 09-10 models:

The Japanese automaker said the sales suspension includes the following models: the 2009-2010 RAV4, the 2009-2010 Corolla, the 2007-2010 Camry, the 2009-2010 Matrix, the 2005-2010 Avalon, the 2010 Highlander, the 2007-2010 Tundra and the 2008-2010 Sequoia.

Problem is they have NO FUCKING CLUE what is causing the problem or how to fix it,.

That's crazy given the level of quality of Toyota vehicles. At least they have the decency to pull them off the road, unlike Ford when they were shown the Pinto was a death trap in a rear-end collision.

Thankfully my sister's Camry is older than that. I can't speak for the rest of the car, but it's got the most reliable check engine light I've ever seen in any make or model. On for two years and stilling going strong!

false. The Government had to step in and force them to halt sales and the assembly lines....just like Ford

More cars being recalled now, INCLUDING A PONTIAC MODEL:

New York (CNNMoney.com) -- Toyota announced Wednesday night that it is adding another 1.1 million vehicles to an an earlier 4.2 million vehicle recall originally announced in November.

The vehicles are being recalled to fix a problem in which the gas pedal can become caught on the edge of the removable floormat, causing the vehicle to accelerate uncontrollably.

The vehicles now being added to that recall are the 2008-2010 Highlander, 2009-2010 Corolla, 2009-2010 Venza 2009-2010 Matrix, 2009-2010 Pontiac Vibe.

And what an interesting coincidence, Ford just announced today that they were profitable in 2009 and expect to be profitable again in 2010. They have to be loving the news coming from Japan the last few days.

http://money.cnn.com/2010/01/28/news/companies/ford_results/index.htm?hpt=T2

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Ford Motor reported its first full-year profit since 2005 and said it expects to be profitable again in 2010.

The automaker, which has outpaced the turnaround at both its domestic and some overseas rivals, said Thursday that it earned $2.7 billion in 2009. The company was helped by special items that added $2.6 billion to its bottom line during the year.

But even without that assistance, Ford (F, Fortune 500) essentially broke even after taxes. That's far better than the loss of 31 cents per share that analysts had forecast for 2009. Ford lost $7.3 billion, or $3.20 a share, on that basis in 2008.
