Staying Positive (http://www.nba.com/spurs/timeout/20secondto.html)
by Bill Schoening

When you're winning 60 games per season and consistently capturing one of the top seeds in the Western Conference, it's fairly easy to stay upbeat. The season has a flow and a rhythm to it, and that uptempo feel is reflected on the court.

The Spurs this season have had a more difficult time finding a consistent beat, but that's why the veteran leaders are stressing the importance of staying together and fighting through it. Point guard Tony Parker said this week, "We just have to keep working hard. We don't have time to be sad or anything like that. Nobody (else) cares. We just have to keep working together and focus."

Guard Manu Ginobili, whose infectious enthusiasm has sparked this team for eight years, says, "We have the personnel to be contenders, but at this point in the season we are not. One thing that you can rest assured is that we will do our best to get to that point." Ginobili says the team is simply making too many mistakes, and that head coach Gregg Popovich is pointing those out so the team can learn from those mistakes and move on.

The Spurs will rely on their veterans and coaches (and positive attitudes) to show the way as they try to regain the form that has made them one of the winningest franchises in recent NBA history.
