In Similar fashion as the Lakers roadtrip prediction, whoever gets this right gets my sig space for 2 weeks lol :toast

Just put in a loss/win beside each game in your post and I'll keep track of all the posts by quotes, so make sure your predictions are in your actual post. Let's have fun with this guys, try to take it serious and not go with stupid predictions like 0 - 8 lol.

You have until the sacramento game on wednesday to make your predictions, and you can edit yours if you change your mind until then as well. Oh, and people who don't actually predict all the games and instead just put a W-L are obviously not eligible lol

it's hard really. i say the only guaranteed wins are Philly and Detroit.

Kings are pretty good at home. Clippers have beaten the Celts and Lakers at home. Indiana gave us trouble last time.

But from an optimistic view I would say:

Feb 3rd @ Sacramento W
Feb 4th @ Portland W
Feb 6th @ LA Clippers W
Feb 8th @ LA Lakers L
Feb 11th @ Denver L
Feb 17th @ Indiana W

Similar prediction as mine, but how come no one has faith on the spurs against the Lakers in LA? Every prediction but mine and Kori's has written that off as a loss. That'll be the biggest game of the trip, it's not a back to back, no travel needed from the previous game, and I can see the spurs going all out

Looks like Pop is getting Bonner and Finley ready for extended minutes in the
2nd half/playoffs. Bogans is in and out of the rotation ... who the fuck knows what his role is going to be. Roger Mason off the bench one day, starting the next. McDyess starts, comes off the bench, starts, comes off the bench, etc.

Needless to say, none of that is really helping the spurs right now develop chemistry.

No Hairston, no Mahinmi, no Ratliff ..... guys that could really help ... sitting on the bench. Blair's minutes down w/ Bonner back.

Parker being out forced Pop to make changes.... but he made the wrong ones in my opinion. So I'm not very hopeful about this trip, I think if the spurs can go
4-4 I'd be happy, but 3-5 is probably what we'll get.

The Spurs will come back after the RRT well-rested, their minutes carefully monitored, their intestinal fortitude untested. I fear the leadership that made this trip a team-unifying, season-defining gauntlet for a championship run has long since passed.

Impossible to predict which team will show up, what lineup will be trotted out, who will get minutes and why, or if any of them have any pride, let alone killer instinct.

I predict the spurs win close games against the first 5 teams. Then come out of the all star break with blow out victories against the pacers and philly. Spurs fans will be on an emotional high only to lose to Detroit ending the road trip on a low note. The loss will be good thing though because it will remind the team not to look ahead but to take it one game at a time.

The struggling Spurs will look to regroup on their annual "Rodeo Road Trip," which starts this Tuesday.
SAN ANTONIO -- I'm told it's been an unusually cold winter in south Texas, and certainly it was for my visit this weekend. In a roundabout way, that's probably a good place to start when we're talking about the Spurs.

While residents of more northern climes chortle at the notion of calling this a "cold snap," to the locals it seems very real -- something easily proven by strolling a nearly barren Riverwalk and seeing locals dressed like they were on a Siberian dogsledding trek because the mercury threatened to dip below 40.

Similarly, hearing the Spurs talk about their troubles has to set the league's other front offices guffawing. San Antonio has a better record than 21 of the league's other 29 teams, owns the league's seventh-best point differential and, despite employing several highly paid veterans, has maintained as much cap flexibility as any team in basketball.

Everything's relative, however, and the standards of recent history make this season's Spurs squad seem like a dismal failure. San Antonio is on pace to win 48 games, a mark that four teams (Clippers, Raptors, Wizards and Bobcats) haven't reached once in the past two decades and probably won't this season, either.

For those franchises, 48 wins would be cause for celebration. For the Spurs, however, 48 wins seems like a disaster -- it would be their third-worst regular season during the past two decades. The only times they've done worse during that span was 1991-92, when they won 47 games, and 1996-97, when everybody got injured and they won only 20 games but wound up winning the Tim Duncan lottery as a result.

"On pace" for 48 wins, however, is different from finishing with 48 wins, and the Spurs still have time to change their destiny for better or worse. And as it turns out, we're at a crucial juncture for the Spurs' season to veer in either direction, both for them and for the rest of the league. The direction their season goes over the next three weeks could determine whether the Spurs become buyers or sellers at the trade deadline.

Let's start with the glass-half-full approach. Tuesday starts their annual "Rodeo Road Trip," when the San Antonio rodeo boots the Spurs from their home arena for three weeks surrounding the All-Star break. San Antonio will play eight straight road games, and has only 12 of its final 36 contests at home. (Side note: Preparations had already begun Sunday. It was very odd to walk into an NBA arena and see the media parking lot converted into a stockyard, replete with giant placards reading "poultry" and "swine." Let's just say that next time through that lot I'm taking great care to watch where I step.)

Good news, Spurs: Dice usually starts to roll right about now.
The good news about the Rodeo trip, however, is the Spurs' history. Historically, it's been when they've begun their late-season charge after laying in the weeds for more than half of the season.

One can make a case they're ready to make a similar move. While San Antonio's recent results are cause for concern, it has spent half a season assimilating seven new players and playing through injuries to Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker. It's only now that the Spurs have really become comfortable with the pieces they have.

"With all the new players," said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, "it's probably the best thing that can happen to us, just be on our own without any distractions and see if we can shore up our defense and take care of the ball better because those have been our two bugaboos in the fourth quarters -- defensive lapses and turnovers. That's what we're trying to cure.

"It's been hard along the way, but at this point, we know better who we want on the floor in the fourth quarters [and] what combinations we like and don't like. So I'm hopeful that on this road trip we'll be able to use that knowledge and see where we are."

Let me provide one more specific piece of glass-half-full material: One of San Antonio's key players has historically performed vastly better in the second half of the season. Forward Antonio McDyess, who had his fourth straight double-figure scoring game Sunday after putting together just six in the first 41 games, has some of the most extreme splits in basketball over the past three seasons.

"We used to give him so much slack in Detroit," said Denver's Chauncey Billups, who played with McDyess for the Pistons, "because the first half of the season we'd be like, 'Where you at, Dice? Summer's over man, c'mon, let's go. Christmas has passed, it's Valentine's Day now, let's start playing.'"

Indeed, McDyess averaged a double-double with better than 50 percent shooting after Feb. 1 last season, and signs are he's rounding into similar form in San Antonio.

"That's what I've been told," Popovich said of McDyess' second-half pattern. "He's playing much more confidently now than he was at the beginning of the year. You see him making other moves besides jump shots, little deals under the bucket, offensive rebounds are getting better, that kind of thing, so if he's going to continue to improve on that, that would be great."

"This is about his time," Billups said. "He looked like the Dice I always knew. He makes that 15-, 16-foot jump shot, he rebounds, he plays good defense. He's just a great complementary role player, and if he's used the right way he's super valuable."

OK, now for the glass-half-empty approach. The Spurs lost at home for the fourth time in six games Sunday. They're playing without Parker for the moment while he recovers from an ankle sprain, and even when Parker returns he'll be limited by plantar fasciitis that won't heal until he takes the summer off. They have 24 of their final 36 games on the road, and several of them are against daunting opponents: They still play the Lakers three times; Denver, Orlando and Cleveland twice; and Boston and Atlanta once.

The Rodeo Trip itself isn't a daunting slate -- five of the eight opponents stand several miles south of .500 -- but the pressure is on to have a good trip because it's the Spurs' final chance to make a statement before the trade deadline.

While everyone presumes the Spurs will be buyers at the trade deadline -- they went "all-in" this summer by trading for Richard Jefferson and putting themselves well over the luxury-tax line -- it's becoming easier by the day to imagine the opposite scenario. If the Spurs decide they can't contend and this mix isn't worth paying the luxury tax to preserve, they have several expiring contracts other contenders might find useful (Ginobili, Matt Bonner, Roger Mason), not to mention an alluring veteran in the aforementioned McDyess.

We're still a good distance away from that scenario's coming to fruition, but no longer can it be dismissed out of hand. The Spurs historically turn the corner leading up to this road trip, but having lost six of nine games entering the trip, one wonders if they're turning the corner again -- only this time into a much sketchier neighborhood. It's all relative, sure, but the fact remains: The current edition doesn't seem to be the quality of Spurs teams to which the locals have grown accustomed.

Similar prediction as mine, but how come no one has faith on the spurs against the Lakers in LA? Every prediction but mine and Kori's has written that off as a loss. That'll be the biggest game of the trip, it's not a back to back, no travel needed from the previous game, and I can see the spurs going all out

With Gasol back on the floor the lakers have a big advantage again. the spurs have not done well against a fully healthy laker team and then also on the road, with the Lakers owing one to the spurs for losing a couple weeks back. The Lakers are the pick here, odds highly favor them.

We can't hang with top teams on back-to-backs, we will lose to the Lakers with Pau, Denver with Melo, and Philly with all their long swingmen.

I like this prediction. Thats my 2nd choice. The portland game depends on Roy playing or not.

Philly has some size that can cause the Spurs problems and AI is getting back in shape, Iggy is a tough matchup. This will not be an easy game as most are predicting a spurs win here.

I think were do for a win at Portland whether they have BRoy or not. I think well falter against the Clips (as in play shitty most of the game and lose) but play very well against the Lakers in a close loss (unless its on Nat TV, then we get smashed...but i dont think it is). We bounce back, win 4 in a row, and head on back home to ole' SA with a solid trip in our rear.

I think the team will have a let-down loss to Indiana right after the all-star break, but then will beat Philly and The D, to make it a solid 5-3 headed back home. I just don't think they have enough heart or toughness to beat L.A. or Denver, right now.

can you please update the front page with the right predictions so far ?

Updated the front page with the predictions still in the run, and to be honest, I find it hilarious that over half of the people who made guesses predicted exactly what has happened so far, yet spurs talk is in total meltdown mode right now. So much for the Jokers theory on people not freaking out if everything goes according to plan, even if the plan is horrifying :lol

I think when we predicted it, we didn't expect the Lakers to be without Kobe and Bynum, much less to lose handily to that short-handed Lakers team, and look horrible doing it.

Feb 11th @ Denver - 1000% sure L

so, 3-5 is kind of realistic for this team and the way they play now, but I wouldn't be surpised if we end up 4-4 in this road trip and win one of the 2 games - to be played on Feb 3th and 4th. In any event, this team, as it sdands now, is not going anywhere in the Playoffs...we need a change quickly!

GO SPURS!!!

Looks like this team has the opportunity to go 6-2 and if they had been able to take care of the 4th Q in Portland then it could be 7-1. I wouldn't have thought going intothe RRT the Spurs could go 6-2 - was tinking more like 5-3 (but didn't post a prediction though).

I would be thrilled if the defensive effort in Denver continues for the rest of the trip and beyond. Where did that D come from? Would have been nice to have seen it earlier and then most of us would have avoided the meltdowns.:rollin

We can't hang with top teams on back-to-backs, we will lose to the Lakers with Pau, Denver with Melo, and Philly with all their long swingmen.

Dang, I missed on the Denver game.

I think the meltdown happened when the FO raised the white flag on the season...most people will just expect losses from here on out.

But now, being the first game after the failed trade deadline, a loss tonight would be the exclamation point to drive it home

Well, Ian is going in so this one looks all but over. In all honesty, they competed a lot better than I thought they would after the last game. But they just couldn't sustain the effort for the full 48 against this younger, more athletic 76ers squad.

Sad, sad sad. We still went 4-4 but lost to lowly Detroit because we had no more gas left in the tank.

Well, I believe I had predicted it correctly up until the last 2 games. I thought we'd lose to the Lakers and to Portland, and that we'd beat Denver, which we did.

Which means I predicted 8-2 and instead we wound up -- what? 6-4? But the last two losses were the result of TP's injury. We should have won them anyway, but Spurs historically have a hard time adjusting to injuries until the next game.
