SAS trades Richard Jefferson and Michael Finley to Philly
Philly trades Elton Brand and Thaddeus Young to Spurs
Thoughts:
Brand has picked it up over the last 3 games averaging 20/8 as he's finally getting some consistent minutes. Young is just that - a great athlete with lots of potential to be a long defender and capable scorer. Jefferson has been a major disappointment this season and Finley hasn't contributed this year and will likely retire this summer.
That said, Brand may have the worst contract in the league. Philly is going nowhere under its burden. Jefferson has one year left, and Finley provides immediate salary relief. To free themselves from Brand's untradeable contract, the price would be Young. If Brand returns to anywhere near all-star form, pairing him with Duncan would be nice. But Young could be the real steal.
