Kobe is retarded, just sit out a few games motha fucker hahaha never thought I would be sayin that..This team has to figure shit out by themselves without the guy for once. How come the nuggets can still play at a high level with Melo sitting out for some games? LA is definitely a mentally soft team if they need Kobe on the court to play at a high level.

Kobe Bryant Plays By Different Injury Rules (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=tsn-kobebryantplaysbydif&prov=tsn&type=lgns)
SportingNews

Kobe Bryant is a notoriously tough customer, playing through pain and injuries that would send most players to the sidelines for several games. Now, though, it seems his current ankle injury might be the one to send him to the bench for a game or two.

From Mike Bresnahan at Lakers Blog (http://lakersblog.latimes.com/lakersblog/2010/02/phil-jackson-maybe-kobe-needs-to-sit.html):

Now it might be time for Bryant to sit a game or two, a thought that crossed the mind of the Lakers’ coach.

"It occurred to me yesterday during the course of that game," Jackson said Thursday, a day after Bryant had five points on two-for-12 shooting while fighting though a sprained left ankle against the Charlotte Bobcats.

What’s interesting about this quote isn’t that Bryant might miss a few games. Plenty of stars have missed time this season with not-major injuries—it’s not exactly a sign of weakness. The striking thing is that Kobe has become so dependable that Jackson didn’t even consider holding him out of games until he saw him struggling through the game against the Bobcats. This ankle injury has been bothering Kobe for some time—he’s said that he was already tight before the game—but he’s the kind of player who only sits when he can barely function on the court.

That’s because his presence alone can change the course of a game. As Nazr Mohammed said on Twitter (http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/The_Baseline/entry/view/54457/top_nba_tweets_february_4), Kobe demands full attention any time he steps on the court, injury or not. He plays through pain because defenses have to respect him at all times. So don’t be surprised if he plays tonight against Denver, even if he looks like a shadow of his usual self.

If Kobe sits, the Nuggets should win this one. They're going to come out firing after being blown out a few days ago by the Suns. Even without Melo, they have enough offensive firepower to win the game.

if kobe doesnt play it only gives us a chance. its in LA where we never win. and the lakers still have good players.

true..but the Lakers are known to play relaxed even more so at home..and if Kobe doesn't play then players like Ron,Pau,Odom,Bynum have to step up..if not..well you know.

Look for the Nuggets front line to get ass raped by the Laker bigs tonight.

Also, I expect Nene to pick up anywhere around 2 to a whopping, 6 rebounds for the entire game! That's just what a 6'11, 250 lb guy does best.:(

Alright fellas. I won't be around for the game coz i have to study, but ill be recording it and catching a replay later.

I'll watch it even though the Lakers have won it already. A game without Kobe is worse coz now they will share the ball and Gasol/Bynum will dominate :lol I'd rather Kobe play and get shut down again by AA :toast

Questions on that final play... I figure that's a shot attempt by Kobe, but can it be a shot attempt AND an assist as well? And if it is a shot attempt, is that a rebound for Gasol even though it's essentially a lob?

I said Pau Gasol was the key to that Nuggets series last season.

When Pau got the ball consistently in that series and worked off of him they dominated. If Kobe played his usual game then I think they could have even lost to the Nuggets last season.

I didn't really watch this game, but did Pau get that ball on the block or at the top of the key so he can make choices of whether or not to shoot or distribute the ball?

What type of game did Kobe play tonight?

Well Bynum could be gassed.

This would be the first time in three seasons that he is not hurt at this point. You might see a big drop off from Bynum because he simply hasn't played at this point of the season for a long time.

It's amazing that Bynum is so average defensively with his size/length/athleticism..

Artest was torched by Anthony when they played earlier, so that's going to be trouble as well..

I would still pick the Lakers in a series over Denver, but the Nuggets can certainly compete with them..as we saw tonight, when they get hot, they're disgusting..if I'm Denver, I go out and acquire one more big man for depth..it doesn't have to be anybody outstanding, but they need one..somebody like Kurt Thomas would be nice to play in case of foul trouble to their 3-man big rotation..

Yup, there were some serious freakin' defensive issues in this one...and Melo wasn't even playing :lol

Lakers have serious issues with Denver right now. What a series that would be.

The Lakers big men wilt underneath and the Nuggets guards are too fast and athletic. The team is just far hungrier than LAL is, and looks like they're steamed they lost the series last year.

I wouldn't bet on the Lakers getting past them this year.

The way the play against the Lakers it reminds me of how the mavs would get up for the spurs back in '05-'06. Same ingredients fast guards and a bunch very smug arrogant players who shoot out of their ass. I hope this trend continues but only time will tell.

BTW, how the fuck does Vujacic actually get paid to play in the NBA?..he was just SO bad in this game, why was he even on the floor?..

Phil believes in him unfortunately.

You say that for this game..when in fact it pretty much is every game the Lakers play. Expect a loss tomorrow.

It's usually not THIS bad. Damn, even I can play more defense than that shit tonight. :lol

I'd take a loss like today over the one Portland handed SA yesterday.

I wouldn't. At least we were on the road and had a chance to tie it. This was embarrasing in front of your own fans.

Yeah, that would work if I hadn't figured out that my team isn't in contention about a month ago. At this point, I expect nothing from them.

OTOH, your team is the favourite and defending champ, and they crapped out on their own court against rivals who were without their best player.

:lmao

PS Nothing personal against you. I just like watching the Fakers lose.

Lakers do not, however, look like a championship caliber team, though.

Maybe the extra 20pts Melo brings might cover that though.

I predict a 7-game Faker-Nuggets WCF this year... and this time the Nuggets might even squeak through (they should've done you last year and choked, but now they know what the big stage feels like and just proved they can win there.).

I still think they're the team to beat. That said, I dont think they're as deep this year and Kobe looks gassed.

We agree on something then. :tu :)

They'll make the WCF, but they're more vulnerable this year. A lot of it is the thin bench that I talked about back in October (although most Faker fans told me I was wrong... :lol about that), some of it is Kobe's body declining, and some of it is not having Ariza - I really think he was a better fit than Artest is. And then of course there is Bynum's inconsistency. I wonder if he will ever truly get it?

Def Rowe
02-06-2010, 01:23 AM
Some inconsistent defense from the Lakers tonight. Chauncey playing the best game of his career. What are you ganna do.

And that man-slaughterer J.R. Smith always lights the Lakers up. Like almost always. Nuggets do look a little scarier tonight after this loss... sans Carmello.

IronMexican
02-06-2010, 01:25 AM
Well Bynum could be gassed.

This would be the first time in three seasons that he is not hurt at this point. You might see a big drop off from Bynum because he simply hasn't played at this point of the season for a long time.

I was thinking of that the other day. What do you guys think?

Per CL

Fox Sports West reported that Drew banged his knee with another player in the Charlotte game. He didn't practice the last 2 days. He obviously isn't 100%. He needs to sit down and let LO start for awhile and try to come back after the ASG. Our frontline is deep enough to absorb his absence.

Laker fans would never admit to this but letting Trevor Ariza go was a huge mistake.

I would say this though, Phil was really dumb putting Kobe on the bench after a very hot and efficient start. The momentum shifted to Denver from that point on and they never recovered.

Sasha is getting paid 5 mil to brick shots and commit dumb fouls 90 feet from the basket.

Head scratcher as to why Phil played him that long.

Not worried about the Lakers. They had these lapses last year too.

Kobe used to bail 'em out last year but due to injuries, he's not able to do it this year. He'll heal up though and the Lakers will be fine.

The only good that can come out of that is at least Phil can say... Look dude, I've given you some minutes and you didn't perform. Now sit your ass down and stop your bellyaching.

02-06-2010, 01:37 AM
I don't think Sasha has any room to talk. Phil's given him plenty of chances earlier in the season to redeem himself and he did nothing. As for Fisher, he probably shouldn't even be playing 20+ minutes at this point. Farmer's playing well atm, so I'd rather give the majority of the minutes to him. Fisher is hurting us more than helping right now.

The Lakers are done. They cant stop Ty, they cant stop Billups, they cant out hussle the big men, they cant stop JR if hot.....

Its easy for the Nuggets. Just let kobe get his, coz then noone else will get going.

lmao @ Artest trying to go Graham. It's funny he got upset over a tough foul. Even Artest has gone soft on the Lakers :lol

Seriously, last year the Lakers were lucky because everytime Billups sits down, Anthony Johnson was his replacement. Ty Lawson is just a beast. he's the type of player that LA backcourt coule never contain. Quick off the dribble, decent range and has a knack attacking the basket.

LA better make an upgrade at PG before the tradeline. If this dont happen, Lakers can always try next year for a championship.

Matter of fact I think a Denver-Cleveland Finals is what we all gonna see this year.

Im going to be fair, Kobe did pass the ball a lot of times. Gasol fumbled a couple, Artest was missing layups and good lord Vujacic missed 3 wide open shots from Kobe. Kobe had a great game last night, It was mind boggling when Phil sat him when he was on FIRE! he was also hacked numerous times without a call, but that's not the reason they lost obviously.

Good Win Nug-Fan. Here is something worse; Your hyping your team way to much and if they are indeed "better" this year, heck, go for for bust but there is nothing like pie in the face when you hoist a team so high and ultimately they don't deliver.

Lakers done? Not by a long shot. Besides, we're talking about the Nuggets here.

It does not matter. Melo would have taken shots from Billups and JR thus reducing the damage from their 3pt barrage.

Denver played had a very abnormal shooting night from 3. Good job. Win doesn't mean shit either way though. The Lakers should have lost by 30 with the way Denver was making shots.
