View Full Version : What's with Duncan?

Is he injured or just tired. Seemed to have little energy. And my biggest question : what happened to his jumpshot which he was shhoting with regularity and consistency earlier in the season. This has been AWOL from his repertoire for a long stretch now. Ironic he can make FTs but his jumper has disappeared.

He seemed to shake the slump off last night, but tonight he looked tired from the tip. If you looked at his line and not his game you'd think he did okay.

32 minutes

15 points (6-12)
12 boards (3 offensive)
4 assists
2 blocks
2 steals

3-4 at the line

1 turnover

fail thread

TD wasn't great but Portland did a good job on him. He's not the problem.

But we have to be able to use the advantage of Duncan in the post who is doubled every time he puts the ball in the floor.A big advantage.

Tim has always taken some gawdawful "shots", really more throws or tosses or fumbles. It's just part of his game and lack of athleticism.

He's old, back to back. Played a good game though.

He was total and complete shit in the 4th quarter and it mainly had to do with him standing there like a dumbass in the post waiting to lose control of the ball.

He is just tired of the back to back.... And must be frustrated he is not getting his shots in....

Lamarcus Aldridge is really giving him a lot of trouble. In the past games with Portland Timmy seems to struggle defending the guy in the court.

I don't blame Tim. If his ignorant coach isn't giving me a big to help me defend the paint and leaving me to do everything by myself I would get tired of it too. I know that Tim is in his mind questioning his dumb coach. I would too.

Combined with Popabitchs Stand n Veg offense which encourages such.

Couple of key possessions were just brutal.

He's longing too many minutes. His body is breaking down. He needs some rest but their is nothing the spurs can do about it. He needs to play 30+ just to keep them in the game.

This.

And Aldridge fucking hit those two contested jumpers over dice

especially the one that gave them the lead, that was a really tough shot

C'mon... he isn't 25 years old. West Coast trip and the second game of a back to back. It was expected that he'd be a littel flat and gas out in the 4th. It's what happens to older players. Body takes more time to recoup. Good news is that we don't have a ton of back to backs left. Bad news is... we still can't close out games.:depressed

I hope we get some signs against the McNuggets and Lakers that there is still hope; vets play like vets and step up down the stretch. Show us that you still know how to win games. No metal lapses, defensive stops and offensive execution. The feared Spurs grind it out halfcourt game is a thing of the past now. It must be brought back from the dead!

If your opponent has 55% eFG and you only have 46% eFG while also leading you in OR%, you're probably going to lose. The only reason we were even in the game was the turnover difference.

Of course, if Martell Webster goes 4/5 or 3/5 from 3 instead of 5/5, we probably win.

There's a lot of stuff I can put on Pop, but Duncan getting the ball in the post and standing there waiting around for the double instead of going to the basket - over and over again - is completely on Timmy.

Juwan did a good job defending Timmy. I think TD got a bit frustrated and tried forcing it a bit too much on the inside where he ran into trouble. I was hoping he'd just back off a bit and rely more on his jumper.

If Duncan is the main worry, the Spurs are in good shape.

On the other hand, he can't play back-to-backs.

But there aren't back-to-backs in the playoffs.

I got one foot in and one foot out this year, and it keeps changing. :)

So see yall at Staples!:flag:

duncan has no reliable 3 pt shooter to pass to anymore. most teams won't leave ginobili, hill is off and on with his 3's, don't want to mention finley or bonner, jefferson can't consistently make the open 3, parker can't shoot 3's, and mason bricked his way onto the bench.

In TD's last 5 games he's 32 for 75 from the field 43% and shooting 29 for 31 at the line 94%
