the amount of people sitting in that church is the same amount of points he had during the first half of his game against the clipshow.

Actually, the worst defense in years was Toronto earlier this year. Remember Matt Bonner driving the lane for a dunk?

Spurs actually aren't shooting all that well this game. The Clips may have the worst OFFENSE all year.

Jefferson was great. The key is that Pop has craftily put the name "Hill" on the back of RJ's jersey. Fantastic offseason acquisition. He's certainly becoming the fourth wheel.

We have three guys right now who have their heads completely up their asses in Bogans, Jefferson and Mason. What makes this especially bad is that they all play the same position. I have really just run out of excuses for Jefferson. He just seems so confused, defeated and lost. I don't know what this dude's problem is. Do the Spurs have a team psychiatrist?

Is not completely Jefferson's fault that he doesn't fit in the the system so I'll wait until this season is over before I start bashing the guy, he can still raise his game in the playoffs he has been there before. In the playoffs every player raised their game to another level.

If any of you watch the games how could you Bash him? They run no plays for him, but they run some for Hill. They bury him 24ft away from the rim but expect a impact. I watched an looked the 1st half at how many times they came down on offense an went to the other side of the court from Jefferson. That's like telling a QB to throw great passes with no blockers blocking an 3secs to pass. You people need to quit watching the boxscore

They don't need to run plays for him to score, or rebound, or hustle, or defend, or stop making bone headed plays. Face it this guy is out of his element on this team.

I would think they would be asking him to play basketball (score, rebound, defend...etc.), but if his main purpose on the team is to run up and down the court with a finger up his ass we may have just found this year's team MVP.

I think Pop is starting to get tough with RJ. Maybe that will jumpstart him. It all depends on how RJ will handle Pop breathing down his neck. Parker showed he could handle it and I hope RJ rises to the challenge. The team needs him to pick up his game and start carrying a bigger share of the load. No more Mr. Nice Guy, RJ - its time to make waves.

His scoring is bad but I can live with that. His defense however is a cardinal sin. He makes spectacular offensive plays and few defensive ones too. But its funny cause he never really plays consistent defense. Bruce was old and still worked his but off defensively. RJ isnt getting alot of touches on the offensive end. YES!! but thats no excuse for not using that extra energy to lock somebody up. That was part of the reason they got him, he was gonna be the wing-defender. Funny thing is this; I see GHIll guarding Kobe / Durant and any other big names you can think of not RJ. I also dont see RJ in winning time, I see GHill.

I haven't given up on RJ yet. I think new players try so hard to fit in here with the "good guy" Spurs and with Pop that it messes up their game initially. They tend to defer to the big three, try to be things they're not, and just plain overthink the game. Brent Barry, Hedo, McDyess and a host of others did this, some recover, others don't.

I agree i feel that Jefferson, does seem to be struggling.. But i dont think it is all his fault, well most of it is sure but a big chunk of it is the Spurs do not give him touches.. i mean serious watch the game tonight to show proff he probably gets the least amount of touches on the floor of any starter.. Parker doesnt pass to him unless the shot clock is on 3 sec's or less then Jefferson needs to heive up a prayer.. It seems to just be a TP/TD show for most of the shock clock... TP IMO is a ball haug & with this current roster that is not he answer... In Fast breaks TP would rather take it him self, even if hes on a 3-1 fast break... JR Still he needs to do a better all around job of getting involved in the game be sides scoring...

But i havent lose faith in the man yet he is still the good pickup...

Go SPURS GO tonight against the lakers.....

Sure and while I'm at it I'll ask Bonner to start making his 3', get more rebounds and play better defense, to Tony to pass the ball, to Finley to retire , to Pop to play Theo, to Mason to start making his shots

I was at the Clipper game Saturday and sat two rows behind the Spurs bench. I carefully watched Jefferson...his body language, interaction with his teammates etc. It seemed to me he is still too concerned with what he is doing rather than what the team is doing. Even though the Spurs were killing the Clippers, Jefferson would come to the bench talking to himself about something that had just happened to him. He didn't react to others making plays, like Hill being on fire, he just kind of sulked because of his play. I understand an athlete being upset at not performing well, but it is a long game with plenty of time to redeem yourself. He starts off poorly and his head stays with it the rest of the game. Tim and Manu didn't have stellar performances yet they were very enthusiastic on the bench, happy that the team was winning easily. I don't think he has lost his individual identity yet and until he thinks of himself as just another member of the team he is going to struggle.

He's actually not scoring much more than at the beginning of the year.

But he's hustling a lot more on both ends, which is all anyone really wanted to see, and as a result his 2-point FG% has skyrocketed, and he's rebounding, defense, and overall effectiveness are much better.

Pop keeping him at the 3 no doubt has helped, too.

Good job, RJ. Now you have to show you can make a difference in the postseason, too.

Exactly. I liked the way he didn't just settle for junpshots and drove the lane late in the 4th against Sac. Earlier on I think he would have juat shot the J, Now if he doesn't make the shot at least he goes to the line.

And yes he had better do well in the POs or all of this will have been for nothing.

Well, since you have absolutely zero perspective on why Jefferson struggled (the whole team srtruggled, by the way) and that it wasn't completely his fault, then I don't really give a shit what you think. Point is, a lot of people put a whole lot of undeserved blame on Jefferson very early on and I took a more patient approach.
Jefferson has been reasonably solid since the all-star break and I don't see him regressing at this point. He has become the player I expected he would be. Manu deserves a lot of credit, but RJ has done it mostly on his own under a tremendous amount of pressure.
