Great, so if we can just find a way to only play the Clippers all year, Parker will be the greatest point guard of all time.

If Tony could play the Clippers every night and he was coached by John Lucas (you've got to take the blowouts into consideration), he'd lead the league in assists.

He never passes to Manu.

I didn't watch the game but according to the play-by-play they played just 7 min. together (3 in the first half and 4 in the second) and Manu made a 3 pointer with an assist from TP.

Were you serious or was it a joke to make fun of the old Manu Vs TP threads ? :stirpot:

:lol was that supposed to be a praising thread for a career high ? ST will never change i guess.

anyway, that was great to see the 2nd half first 6 shots made coming from TP assists.

and to see him make assists to Hill and Blair was good to see too.

Well hey, even Kobe get's 10+ assists every once in a while, does that make him a real PG? :D

It looks like TP is playing better after the injury.

Let's hope he gets even better after the All Star Weekend break

The reason he got 14ast is cause the clippers defense is terrible. However, if he really applied himself to setting up his teammates he could get 10-14ast anytime he wanted to. With all these new weapons the Spurs offensive concept hasnt changed its either (1) feed Timmy and stand around or (2) Parker goes 1 on 1 and stand around. Go to Youtube and look up Hornets vs Mavs game 2 2008 playoffs. Just the first quarter and you will see how easy it is to run an offense and not work to hard to produce points for yourself and teammates. The Parker-Homers wont do it, for obvious reasons. The Parker-Haters will use it for ammunition here on the site. But I'm targeting you open minded people in particular to watch how Chris Paul runs his offense with the balance talent he has, then look at our offense.

LMAO that it's Parker's fault that Jefferson's a pussy, Manu can't hit a midrange shot, and Bogans has no offensive game.

I think Parker is capable of 7-8 assists a night if he put his mind to it. Manu can average 5-6 a night and Mason can do 3-4 when Pop actually gives him minutes.

That's enough playmaking for this spurs team IMO.

3. Chris Paul 10.03Parker won't average 14ast a game. Like the poster above said 8ast is pretty good average for TP. My point is, if he put his mind to nothing but passing (kinda like he did saturday night) he can rack up assist easy. To get assist, TP does alot of dribble drive and kick out. I commend him for designing an alley-oop play for him an RJ. However in the halfcourt He can get easy assist by isolating RJ in the low/midpost area. RJ would jab step and shoot that 14ft jumper and TP can get assist off that all day. Also when he runs pick n roll with RJ, and they get a switch he can look to feed RJ since he has a small guy on him. That might not get him and assist but it gets the ball moving since the other team will automatically double. Or maybe instead of feeding RJ immediately he can wait watch and see if the defense shifts to RJ's side and just throw over the top in the weakside corner to a wide open GHill for a 3. My thing with Parker is that he works really hard to get shots for himself and others. He should look to find mismatches and guys in there sweetspots, that way he wont have to dribble drive every play. He is capable of doing the same things that Cp3/D-Will are doing, especially with Pop not calling plays. Its obvious now that RJ stinks whether TP is around or not. The spurs philosophy of RJ being a spot-up shooter that can drive is lame. Pop wont change his gameplan, so its up to Parker to make RJ more comfortable. TP already has with that alley-opp play, if he can keep looking to utilize RJ's strengths instead of RJ's 3pt shooting the spurs will be extremely dangerous in the halfcourt.

Bold call there.

"10-14 assists anytime he wants to" is what you said. Really?

To get assist, TP does alot of dribble drive and kick out. I commend him for designing an alley-oop play for him an RJ. Yeah, there are things TP could do to work on setting other people up better. And if he still wants to be in the league in 4 years, he'll have to do more of that because he won't be able to blow by people any more. But Parker is what he is today mainly because Pop wanted him to be that way. And his assist total will never be more than 7-7.5 per game.

He is capable of doing the same things that Cp3/D-Will are doing, especially with Pop not calling plays.

Not a chance. As a passer, he's simply not in their league. However, I don't think the Spurs would be any better with Williams than with a healthy Parker.

The Spurs offense has never been better in the Duncan Era. It doesn't need any more tinkering. I hope the coaching staff doesn't spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to get RJ more shots, because that isn't going to make the defense any better.
