"Messiah of Evil" and "¿Quién puede matar a un niño?" -- both are slow moving and low-budget, but moody, well-shot, and memorable.

Early Cronenberg pics are great, and you might want to investigate italian zombie and giallo cinema...some fun stuff there. I recommend Fulci's "Don't Torture a Duckling" and "Zombie," as well as Aviati's "House with Laughing Windows."

Thanks, i've been trying to look for scary movies that would actually be scary lol. I haven't seen a real scary movie since the eye (japanese version)

anyways watch martyrs. A french horror film, pretty crazy. Or High Tension, another french horror film. Both will freak you out
