Sorry Nuggets-Fan, I can't let you start the game blog for this, as the Spurs lost both times you started the previous game blogs against the Nuggets :lol

If the Spurs can pull out a win, they have a great chance at finishing up this road trip 6-2 which would be a great success.

Yes, the Spurs with the big contracts have to earn their pay and come up big. It would also help if they do a decent job from behind the arc. Last game against Denver the Spurs shot a piss poor 17.6%.

The Spurs will come out with their best effort of the season on both ends of the floor, will jump out to a double digit lead early, will fight for rebounds and defend.

Until the second half when they start to give up a run, go small, and lose by seven due to an inability to get stops or defensive boards.

On a positive note, the big three's minutes will be well managed so they can be rested for the playoffs, which they'll be watching on TV.

Hip injury sidelines Spurs’ Parker (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-spurs-parkerout&prov=ap&type=lgns)

San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker is being held out of the team’s game against the Denver Nuggets because of a strained left hip flexor.

San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said Thursday that Parker was injured during the team’s last game, a 101-89 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.

Parker, averaging 16.9 points in 43 games, was sidelined for three games earlier this month after spraining his left ankle Jan. 27 against Atlanta.

Parker out vs. Denver (http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/courtside/2010/02/parker-out-vs-d.html)
By Jeff McDonald

No, your computer monitor is not stuck on repeat.

Spurs point guard Tony Parker will miss tonight's game at Denver with a left hip flexor strain, coach Gregg Popovich said. Parker hurt himself taking a tumble at some point during Monday's loss at the Los Angeles Lakers.

With one game left until the All-Star break, Popovich opted to hold Parker out instead of risking further inflammation.

Parker did not play the last time these two teams met, either, missing the Nuggets' Jan. 31 win in San Antonio with a sprained left ankle.

Meanwhile, Denver coach George Karl said the jury was still out on whether Kenyon Martin would play or rest with left knee tendinitis. Karl indicated Martin was leaning toward not playing.

Jeff McDonald: George Karl on the Spurs' defense, from 30 minutes ago:

"Defensively, they are not a dominant defensive team as they once were. They used to be incredible around the basket. You now can score around the basket on them more than ever before. But they’re still solid. They’re still sound, conceptually. (Pop) has tricks, he can mess with you. But they were so good for so many years. "

"We chart our baskets within five feet of the basket every night. Halftime, I’d go in there against SA and we’d be 2 for 15. They just wouldn’t let you score around the basket. That’s different now."

"They used to play two bigs. Now you can take Duncan away from the basket. You can take their bigs away and attack their smalls a little more. You take Duncan in the pick and roll, you’ve got Bonner, or McDyess or Blair covering the basket. That’s just not as good as it was when it was David Robinson, or Nesterovic or Mohammed or someone like that.”
