Top 10

(Last week’s rank in parentheses; through Friday’s games)

1. Cavaliers (1): Thirteen straight and counting, but big news in CavsLand is new Nike commercial with bald Z puppet.

2. Lakers (3): No Kobe, no Bynum, no problem. And that jinx in Portland? Consider it a thing of the past.

3. Nuggets (2): Good times in Nuggetville: Chauncey’s an All-Star and on the Team USA cadre for FIBA championships.

4. Jazz (4): Despite pre-All-Star loss to Lakers, they’re still on uptick. ... AK-47 averaging 15.4, 5.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists in last 11 games.

5. Mavericks (6): This ranking reflects Saturday’s trade. ... Caron Butler will help. Josh Howard had become a big pain.

6. Magic (8): Carter went from looking like Half Man-Half Retired to Half Man-Half Amazing in 48-point explosion vs. Hornets.

7. Celtics (7): GM Ainge wants a shake-up trade but met with Allen to reassure him. Pack your bags, Ray.

8. Hawks (5): Horford insists he’s good enough to be go-to guy; Joe Johnson may have something to say about that.

9. Spurs (10): Pre-All Star victory in Denver could be turning point, but we’ve seen this before, haven’t we?

10. Suns (11): Lots of Stoudemire trade buzz over All-Star break, but their recent surge quelled some of the urgency.
