AUSTIN, TX February 16, 2010 The Toros announced today that 7-1, 240 pound center Luke Bonner has been acquired from the available player pool. The Toros roster now stands at 11, including Spurs assigned player Malik Hairston.

Bonner, 24, played collegiate ball at Massachusetts where he averaged 6.9 points and 5.4 rebounds in 23 games his senior year. Bonner was also named to the 2008-09 Atlantic 10 All- Academic Team. Most recently, he averaged 9.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in Hungary. Luke is the younger brother of San Antonio Spurs forward/center Matt Bonner.

Luke Bonner will wear jersey number 42 on Thursday when the Toros travel to take on the LA D-Fenders. The Toros play three games in California before coming home to play the final weekend in February.

Bonner, 24, played collegiate ball at Massachusetts where he averaged 6.9 points and 5.4 rebounds in 23 games his senior year. Sadly, that explains the current level of the D-League.

Sadly, that explains the current level of the D-League.I don't know exactly when the Toros became first in line for acquisitions. They have had an open roster spot for a couple of weeks and a few other, better players have been picked up.

This signing doesn't make a ton of sense unless they plan on playing Bonner and Dwayne Jones together, or are working on a trade involving Roderick Riley. Of course having a white guy named Bonner on the team might be good for other reasons.

This move makes sense. Bonner always been a one trick pony and he pulled a Houdini in the playoffs. His plus/minus was overrated anyways, and let's be honest here, he made more news writing about sandwiches than anything else.

:rolleyes

As if there was need for further explanation after the weekend's D League "All Star" Game.

My thoughts, exactly -- we'll know if he's adopted or an impostor just by checking the boxscore. :hat

He's not a ginger? There's no way he has the potential of Matt if he's not a ginger. Pretty cool though and well played by the TS.

In this country, you gotta get the Bonners first. Then when you get the Bonners, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women.
