Lake Erie frozen over for the first time in 14 years

Following a cold snap in the Northeast, Lake Erie's surface is virtually frozen over for the first time in about 14 years.

Global warming in action?

:lol

global climate shift

more extreme temperature/weather fluctuations; with an overall warming trend in most areas

I thought it was the warmer temperature was causing more moisture in the air and hence more snow.

but that doesn't explain why all that water FROZE though.

I wish the global warming people would make up their minds. is it warmer thus causing more snow or colder due to higher weather fluctuations?

not that one cold, or not cold winter disproves years of peer-reviewed science..

The earths temperature and climate varies from year to year, from decade to decade, from century to century...

Who'd a thunk it?

The beautiful thing about man-made climate change theory is that, no matter how the climate changes, the theory is proven correct.

Well....

Screw it, not even gonna argue with Warmers (or Changers) anymore; just gonna wait for the data (both anecdotal and otherwise) to keep rolling in; the methodology behind the science of their religion has been exposed to the point that if they ARE right, it's just a lucky guess. More likely: their utterly, completely wrong. Just have to sit back and wait for it to become obvious to even the most faithful among them.

not that one cold, or not cold winter disproves years of (flawed, manipulated, overstated) (selectively) peer-reviewed science..

fixed.

A refresher: My wife is a professor of Biochemistry.

If a student (undergrad or graduate) of hers had made the statements recently that Jones made about not keeping track of papers, not being able to reproduce his calculations, etc.....that student would have been failed for having useless results. Jones, on the other hand, was published in Nature and Science (of which my wife has also been). She was held to an actual standard, however. Jones was not.

(and I just broke my promise to not argue with the Warmers)

True. Leave it to the left to change the term to climate change and relate it to man's activity.

In the case of Vancouver, it might be real. All that Black Carbon produces in Asia not only helps to melts the Arctic Ice faster, but does capture the sun's energy, and turn it to heat. Quite a bit of it makes it all the way to where I live in Portland.

Keep in mind everyone, Black Carbon is not CO2.

Indeed, most people have encountered it as soot at some point. Rarely does one get to see how a ton of this stuff can cause severe pollution on local and regional levels.

Its color causes it to absorb heat much better than colorless or white particle matter.

I've never seen it down here. Air flows come from the gulf of Mexico or from the northwest. Air is either really dry or really humid. Very clean.

Recently, the Right-Wing echo chamber has been in a lather over record snowfall in the American North East, suggesting that it is "proof" of the nonexistence of "Global Warming". Last week, I noted how famed Conservatives Sen. Jim Inhoff (R-OK), Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC), Sean Hannity and Sarah Palin are all giddy over how foolish Al Gore must now feel in light of the massive amount of moisture dumped on DC this Winter in the form of snow. Add dead-squirrel-toupee enthusiast Donald Trump to that list, who suggested that the Nobel Prize committee "take back" Al Gore's award in light of "the coldest Winter ever recorded" (total nonsense. No such claim has ever been made.)

<...>

So let's put the Deniers "proof" in perspective with some maps ..

Fighting anecdotes with anecdotes. Well done.

How's that 10+ year temperature trend?

Dan, that map is a lie. I have lived in the North West all my life except while I was in the Army. Early summer like weather is normal, due to the way the winds vary. This is actually a rather cool version of our periodic early spring.
