At the beginning of this year, pretty much everyone penciled in the Lakers to win the West again. However, that may change.

The San Antonio Spurs are reportedly looking into trading for Amar'e Stoudemire to play alongside Tim Duncan. The question now is who would they have to give up to get Stoudemire?

No one really knows right now. One likely person to wind up in the trade would be Manu Ginobili. His contract expires at the end of this season, which the cheapass Suns would definitely like.

By the way, if you're wondering why the Suns would trade Stoudemire to a bitter rival in the same conference, it's because - as stated - the Suns are cheapasses. Or sorry, owner Robert Sarver is a cheapass. Stoudemire is owed $17.7 million next season, and after that he becomes a free agent. Although Sarver has said he'd like to sign Stoudemire to an extension, with Sarver's notorious cost-cutting measures (which have been happening for years) I seriously doubt that'll ever happen. So you might as well trade him now if the deal is good.

So, we'll see. But Duncan and Stoudemire? Man, that's a serious down low tandem. Considering how soft Pau Gasol is, I can see the Spurs becoming a major hurdle for the Lakers if this deal goes dow

Nope. That uninsurable knee of his makes this a risk a small market team cannot take.
