The Spurs trading for Richard Jefferson

The Mavs trading for Shawn Marion, and then giving him an extension

I think the extension gives the Marion trade the tip in this one. At least the spurs will have a 15 million expiring next year

Marion is more useful right now because at least he plays defense and isn't asked to score 20 ppg. But in terms of who's contract is worse, yeah Marions.

I'm just voting for Jefferson because I'm sick of his shit. :lol

right now, Jefferson. every season after this until 2014, Marion.

he's a couple of years older and that contract extension makes Marion difficult to trade.

The Jefferson trade seems to have been a much bigger distraction than the Marion trade. I haven't seen many articles in the media talking about how Marion is a massive failure. Even when he's not scoring, he can still be a major presence on D.

RJ for now. Second half begin tonight and hopefully he has been studying so he wont be the "worst trade" anymore.

3 years from now the Marion extension will be a problem, the trade itself is way better than the Dick Jefferson trade.

The RJ trade was supposed to bring the Spurs neck and neck with the Lakers. Instead, it literally ended a dynasty, as well as swelled our payroll way over the luxury tax for two straight years, so I don't see how any trade could be construed anywhere near as bad.

First of all the Spurs were never a dynasty. And they were done before the Jefferson trade ever happened. 1st round exit with Duncan and Parker playing? San Antonio was already grilled well done.

Since when has Marion been a bad trade? He's a versatile defender; something that will come in handy during the playoffs.

He also plays worse in the playoffs, cause the tempo is a lot more slowed down. His D is still there, though. I think most mavfan were expecting more from his O up to this point. Nothing at the level of disappointment of Dick, though. His stat line is always like 1-7.

Marion's O already sucked in Toronto/Miami. No reason to expect him to bring that.

D is what the Mavs need from Marion and they're improved from last season

RJ is top 10 worst trade busts of all time

mavs have no chance

For all the good defense Marion supposedly plays in the playoffs, Tony Parker and Dirk bukaked all over Marion plenty of times.

Marion bc he is here for 4 more years

Considering Marion might not live to see year three of his deal, these trades in a vacuum would be a wash. But since Cuban can just snap his fingers and get rid of Marion's contract after he's no longer needed, the RJ trade is worse.

Jefferson trade and anyone who says Marion trade is an idiot.

The Jefferson trade was supposed to vault the Spurs to 2nd in West and a challenger to Lakers. It hasn't, not even close.

Mavs due to their recent struggles have the same record through 53 games as they do last year, but it's hardly Marion's fault. It's more or less: Howard sucking ass, Terry having an off shooting YEAR, Dampier's injury, Dirk's elbow injury. etc.

Relative to expectations, the RJ trade is far worse...

This season Popovich has been a bigger fail than Jefferson.

Even my homerism for the Spurs won't let me pick Marion. RJ is the bigger bust.

Marions 5th year guaranteed pisses me off, nothing else. Ah and that he need to go back to chippie school, he bricks 2-3 easy baskets every game. Hope he can fix that crap.

But i still take Marions contract over RJ.

I picked Marion trade, because I just don't have the heart to pick the Jefferson since he has been on of the only Nets in history that didn't want to leave the area, and Marion was never a Nets so no need to pick him lol
