Ian's not going to play lol. If it's the end of the game and we're down or up by like 25, he may. If not, I wouldn't bank on it.

The PO is right, Ian should start tonight to showcase him to other teams. I just hope he dosen't turn the ball over 20 times or fouls out in those first 5 minutes. He can really help out to seal a trade if he dosen't f-it up, which I know he will... :pop: -< Guy sucks, that is why he did not get extended and is on the bench.

If he doesn't get traded and doesn't get PT, I'm wondering what the hell he's spent the last five years with the team for.

If Ian averaged 30 mpg he would be in the top 5 in NBA in blocks. I agree he should play more.

If he didnt foul out first...

If Ian played 30 minutes, he would only see 15-20 minutes before fouling out.

Refs don't know him. They're going to assume that when he faces up and gets by someone that he took steps to do it. If Ian averaged 30 mpg he'd foul out a lot at first and less later on. It's not uncommon for a big to have foul troubles. Again, the question remains: Even if he were a foul machine, could his other production make up for it? Probably a wash at worst with quite a nice upside.

If Ian ever played 20 minutes . . .

People would say "Man, why didn't the Spurs play him while they had him?"

Amazing assumptions of a guy thats played about a total of 3 quarters of minutes in the NBA.

At this point, Pop is committed. Either Ian's a useless scrub, and therefore shouldn't be played, or Pop misjudged him. Assuming misjudgment, Pop has 2 viable strategies left for the good of the organization either a) using him as a trade piece, or b) Sitting him and hoping he can resign him for cheap and use him next year... Given his trade value is through the floor after how our dropping his last year mucks up his bird rights, b) would appear to be the more viable strategy.

but to be serious for a second . . . unless someone is traded by gametime and told not to suit up . . . I don't see how Ian will even be on the active roster.

If Mahinmi isn't traded and isn't bought out after the trade deadline, doesn't that have to mean the Spurs are holding onto him in hopes of signing him to a small deal in the offseason?

I agree but, old Pop won't want to cut into Finley's minutes.

it is pop's plan to sign him for 5 more years just so he can sit him on the bench in a suit and look at him.
