View Full Version : is Michael Finley a candidate for getting bought out by the deadline?

We all know there's a few guys each year who get bought out before the deadline, and some of them latch onto contenders in a bid to get a ring (or playoff money).

Are the Spurs in that position now with Michael Finley?

The writing's on the wall. He DNP-CD'd last night after a long bout of rest. He's at the end of his contract. This could be his last hurrah.

Is it so crazy to think that Finley becomes one of those players this year?

Could he go back to Dallas to make peace and try to help them get a title?

Or latch onto some other contender (LA, BOS, ORL, DEN, CLE)?

Maybe, just maybe, one side goes to the other and an agreement is reached: Finley has been a good soldier and the Spurs want him to go out the best way possible.

Or maybe he replaces Bonner as the starting PF when the Spurs play the Lakers in the first round.

why would we buy out finley if his contract expires at the end of the season

Spurs already have the league minimum number of players on their roster. If they bought out Fin, they'd have to sign someone else.

Because he might take cents on the dollar to play for another team.

No, he's just a candidate for colon cancer now.

You know, I don't like Finley as a Spurs player... but that garbage you just posted is pretty low...

What team would that be?

I dont see much reason to let Finley go unless we save a ton of money. Might as well keep him as insurance, hes not getting any burn right now anyways.

I think the bigger question in my opinion is what players will be bought out from other teams and can they help the spurs because that is the only way to improve at this point.

After the Ratliff dump, the Spurs have 13 players on the roster. The NBA minimum is 13 players on the roster. No one else will be going anywhere.

Pop will NEVER allow finley to leave as long as he is physically capable of walking.

Hell if I know. Just a reason he could get bought out.

it feels good. Now if only Mahinmi and Hairston could start alongside Duncan, Hill, and Parker . . . then I'd be rolling!

Hey Objective, can you go to Las Vegas w/ me? I need extra doe.

The good news is I had the Saints and the Under with Brees for MVP.

The bad news is I had the Spurs to win the title at 14-1.

alas, you are correct. I only raised a possibility that no one else was even thinking about. :depressed

I didn't do anything bold like predict a pre-season national title contender big time program going undefeated. You have exposed me as a fraud. :toast

Considering his common law marriage to Coach Pop, no, I don't think anyone was making that prediction, at least that I saw.

Wonder who they're going to sign for spot #13? Finley must have gone out cheap for them to even contemplate a minimum deal, which they must now.
