Who is better as of right now.

Durant. Already he's a better shooter, more aggressive, equal rebounder, equal passer, and probably equal defender.

It's extremely close. I'd still take Dirk, but next year I'm taking Durant.

By the way, who else is really fucking excited to see what Durant can do in the playoffs? That guy is going to drop 30+ every game, I'm pretty sure.

Dex

Haven't seen Durant enough to put him over Dirk yet, but it's close. Dirk has the achievements; Durant has the potential.

Really, the only knock I have against Dirk is that he's always lacked a killer instinct on the big stages. Durant hasn't even been to the big stages yet, so it's hard to really use that as criteria.

id trade dirk for durant straight up.

durant may be the better player already, but next year as dirk declines a little more and durant gets better a little more it probably wont be a debate.

definitely dirk right now. still a better leader, and is still one of the biggest mis-match nightmares in the NBA. his floor presence is still greater than durants

Dirk right now.

Durant next year. In a few years only Lebron will be over Durant.

Dirk was having the best season of his career until Carl Landry tried to eat his elbow. It's certainly been Durant over the past month. It will probably be Durant next year. All things considered, Dirk by a hair over Durant right now.

Fail thread. KD was 10 when Dirk entered into this league so he has had the advantage of playing professional ball for over 11 years to hone his skills. The comparison should be at this stage in Dirk's respective career, who is the better/ more skilled and talented player and I think the answer to that is pretty simple. Not to say Dirk hasn't been beasting this year, as much as I personally don't care for the guy, I can admit this. But to pose the question the way you did is pretty silly. Durant has been lighting the league up and he's just getting started.

Dirk: 24.7 ppg, 47 fg%, 34 3pt%, 7.7 rbds, 2.5 assts.

Durant: 29.7 ppg, 48 fg%, 37 3pt%, 7.6 rbds, 2.9 assts.

Plus the Mavs are 33-21 and the Thunder 31-21, so they pretty much have the same record with the difference that Durant has a lot less to work with.

So for me Durant > Dirk but don't mind me I'm just a blind Nowitzki hater. :rolleyes

I know you're a troll but you seem to be arguing seriously so I'll answer you accordingly.

Euroleague+MVP, Olympics+MVP, three NBA championships, a lot of other indivual and team awards > NBA regular season MVP, western conference championship, a lot other of individual awards.

You may not think much about the international ball but it plays a big part in the HoF votes.

all this trophies combined are still easily overwhelmed by the trophy of NBA regular season MVP IMHO, which Dirk has earned once while Manu has never.

Dirk joined NBA so early that he didn't play as many years in Europe as Manu did, hence consequently Manu has won slightly more honors from that continent than Dirk has, like Euro league MVP etc... Dirk would also have won one or multiple olympic golds with equal quality of supporting pieces as Manu's on Argentinian team, but the fact is Dirk's German teammates are only a bunch of sorry fucks at their finest, not even comparable to the Argentinian squad which is always stacked even without Manu.

That argument can work the other way around too, if Manu would have made it to the NBA at the age that Dirk made it he wouldn't have wasted two years of his prime adapting to the NBA and if he wouldn't have landed in such a talented team his individual stats would have been much better and the NBA fans wouldn't think of him as just a great role player.

Swap Manu with Dirk and I don't think Argentina would have won the Olympics but those are just personal opinions, all that matters to the HoF criteria is that Manu won it and Dirk didn't.

Besides Dirk's teammates aren't scrubs: Kaman, Bradley, Femerling, Okulaja, etc.

I agree 100%. Manu will get into the Hall Of Fame before Dirk. Only because Manu's fragile ass will be retiring years before Dirk.

Both will get in. But if the voters could only put one of those two in the Hall of Fame, 90% of the votes would go to Dirk.

This is a tough one but I would say Dirk. In a few years, probably Durant but right now Dirk. Durant needs to prove to people that he isn't just a guy that scores a lot of points on a bad team. I know that OKC is good this year but Durant needs to make some noise in the playoffs before you can start debating whether he is better than Dirk. I know that Dirk doesn't have a ring but he has a lot of playoff experience. I can't say the same about Durant.

I don't know who is better this year, but if I had to choose one 'd pick Durant, sorry Dirk is good, but he is older and will only get older next year so wouldn't go after him don't know if he can get injured or if he is just not going to have it. So Durant
