Blair > McDyess > Bonner

I like Bonner, but a starter? No.

That would be either vander or zosa, the two most prominent redhead-lovers on this forum

Not even I think Bonner's better than Blair or McDyess. I don't approve of him starting either; pre injury he was doing fine off the bench.

do i want bonner out there when we need an offensive rebound at the end of the game? no! i want blair out there.

do i want either mcdyess or blair out there when i need a three? definitely, no. i'll take bonner over any of them all day.

i'll pick mcdyess when i need the taller player.

McDyess (experience) > Blair (rookie) > Bonner (sucks)

Give me Dyess in the starting lineup, with Blair coming in for Duncan.

McDyess is battle tested, has intangibles in his game (sets great screens, etc) and is still very skilled.

His last game in another teams uniform?... starting PF, 39 minutes, 26 points, 10 rebounds, 4-4 FT, 11-18 FG

That's a tiny sample, in a blowout loss to get swept by Cleveland, but it just shows that McDyess shouldn't be buried in the lineup, but rather featured... The problem is, McDyess didn't help his own cause in the first half of the season, transitioning almost as roughly as Jefferson, and Pop tends to love Bonner's game. But still, there's no denying McDyess was just starting to get in a groove leading up to the all-star break (9.5 PPG, 7 RPG, .57 FG% last 10 going into the break)... Why mix things up again?

Just in case nobody noticed... Tyrus Thomas 12 rebound, 6 blocks in 25 minutes.

Sure looks like we couldn't have used that headcase... issues with playing time? what a bad person. such poor bbiq too... :/

So far with Bonner starting since he came back from injury, the Spurs have had some trouble putting the ball in the hole.

This is like picking between a turd sandwich and a giant douche...

There's also the 'No big man' (aka small ball) option missing from the poll...

And where is the Finley and RJ options?

No Mahinmi on that list means I don't vote. If I'm coaching, two of those guys get as many minutes at the 3 position as the 4, and none of them are a 5.

when the Lakers go Bynum, Gasol, Odom: I'd put Blair in at the 3, but that's about it

He's a role player. He isn't going to step in and be a star when your boy Manu inevitably pulls up lame in the playoffs :lol

That would be terrible.

for that specific matchup? or you just wouldn't ever play Blair at the 3? then your beef is with Obstructed_View, he's the one advocating playing these guys at the 3.

I think Blair could guard Odom much better than RJ

Yeah, don't jump on Vander, it was my idea. And yeah, I'd rather go big than small. There are plenty of matchups where Bonner or Blair would be playing the three position. Both of them can move their feet well enough to stay in front of guys and they're long enough to challenge shots. If their man gets past them, guess what? Two seven footers, or one seven footer and Antonio McDyess, which will have to do.

Even if it doesn't work, it's got fewer downsides than going small. I'd rather have the other team shooting from the outside all day long than scoring on the inside all day long.

McDyess has been showing signs of life the last ten games or so, I don't know why he was benched. It's almost like Pop sees a completely different team play every night.
