Mikael Pietrus. Damn, this guy would help us a lot. He'd be just what the doctor ordered.

I'm pretty sure we could have gotten him a couple of years ago.

any others...

I started following the Magic closely this season(since I'm a big Carter fan and I want to see him win a ring) and the majority of their fans usually dislike having Pietrus on the team..he's just way too inconsistent and he has extremely low basketball IQ..the series vs. the Cavs was the only consistent contribution he ever made to the team and he's regressed heavily this season..

Personally, I like Pietrus' game when he's not playing like a total idiot, but Pop would have him in the doghouse after EVERY GAME where he would get any PT..

Lebron James, they could have tanked the '02 season and won the lottery, shame they didn't.

November 17th, Stephen Jackson to the Bobcats for Radmanovic and Raja Bell.

I find it hard to believe the Spurs couldn't come up with a better package than them two. Probably a "reputation" non-trade.

I am sure so many can make this thread for other teams as well, it happens! Spurs have had alot though and some are not happy with that there alone? They stole Blair in round two, Manu in round two, Parker at the 28th or whatever it was, Bowen from Miami that one year! Spurs also got George Hill late who is a very good player, getting better all the time. We missed out on some in the draft or FA yes, but they have had alot too.

It was the 03, and we won a championship. although, in 02 we coulda had a chance for yao, and twin towers 2.

Past years... who cares, it's ancient history. But this year:

Jax - IMHO, he could have made us contenders.

Thomas - a good piece to try out and maybe build with that would have cost us NOTHING! :pctoss

This is my guy. I was crushed when Houston plucked him away from the Spurs, and subsequenty traded him to Portland, in the 2008 NBA Draft. Bastards. :bang

After that, I'd say

Tyrus Thomas via trade with Chicago
John Salmons via trade with Chicago
Ronnie Brewer via trade with Utah
Corey Maggette via free agency. Take him over RJ.
Josh Howard via 2003 NBA draft(2003-2007 version only)

Yeah, Houston have screwed us many a time, haven't they? :lol

Brewer is intriguing as a defender, wonder why we didn't have a crack at him? He has stopper potential.

Hedo Turkoglu :P

I see you missed the 04 playoffs. Let me break it down real quick. Spurs 2004 team = possibly greatest Spurs team ever... then LA decides not to guard Turkoglu in game 3 and beyond when he can't hit an open shot, and pretty soon 19 game win streak and season over in a 4-game flash. Turkoglu was the original Bonner for the Spurs in the playoffs.

What fans are you hearing about? I drop in once in awhile at the most popular magic site

http://orlandomagiczone.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/8891029871

and 90% of the fans/posts there are stark raving nuts about Pietrus and what he means to the team. He is an inconsistent shooter and that's why he was taken out of the starting lineup in favor of a more consistent Matt Barnes but coming off the bench really suits him best as he showed in the post season last year.

R Wallace the year he was traded to Detroit.

The spurs should have gone hard after him at that time. The window was still open for a title then. He would have brought another title to the Spurs.

The biggest mistake was letting Stephen Jackson walk after he rejected the Spurs' 3 year/10 mil offer.... I imagine something like 4 years/20 mil might have given the Spurs a 6'8" wing player-- a thing they are still trying to find-- and most likely another championship or two.

Corey Maggette via free agency. Take him over RJ.

Never had a chance at him; the Spurs didn't have nearly the cap space to give him the contract he ended up signing. RJ was brought in via trade (cap space was irrelevant).

You're obviously not troubled by the facts of the actual trade as compared to assets the Spurs had on hand at the time.

Revisionist history is better than actual history.

I have no doubts that had the Spurs retained SJax, there would have been an extended run on more championships in consecutive years.

It was Jackson's agent that refused to negotiate and would not take calls from Pop and R.C. The mistake was Jackson's. His career path and career earnings would have both been much better if he had been willing to negotiate.

It wouldn't have taken much to get him. He was given away for cheap.
