Please, he is clearly from the island. :hat

Well, right now, it certainly is Barca, but let's not forget that Chelsea was just a couple of minutes away of advancing past Barca last year.

But the run Barca had last season was just insane. :toast

True, but that wouldn't have made Chelsea a better team than Barcelona. In sports and specially in football the team that wins isn't always the better team.

Barcelona.

But i think Henry is not playing with heart. He came to spain to win the CL and now he's more worried about the WC.

Ibrahimovic is not good too the last few weeks (and too selfish imo).

So we'll see if xavi, iniesta, messi, toure are enough to still be the best team.

Real Madrid break 400m euro revenue mark
JULIAN GUYER
March 2, 2010 - 3:09PM

AFP

Real Madrid have become the first sports team in the world to generate annual revenue in excess of 400 million euros ($A602.23 million), according to figures compiled by accountancy firm Deloitte.

The latest edition of the Deloitte Football Money League published on Tuesday also shows Spanish giants Real as the world's largest revenue generating football club, for the fifth consecutive year.

Real's broadcast income of 161 million euros ($A242.4 million) was greater than the total revenue of all but the top ten clubs in the Deloitte table.

Their arch domestic rivals Barcelona moved up into second place, primarily as a result of winning last year's Champions League final while Barca's beaten opponents Manchester United dropped down into third position, partly as a result of sterling's depreciation against the Euro.

Although the Premier League saw Portsmouth enter administration last week, and doubts persist over the huge debts being carried by United, who recently launched a STG500 million ($A832.36 million) bond issue scheme, seven English clubs feature in Deloitte's top 20 with Arsenal moving up into fifth place.

Figures in the report showed the world's most financially successful football clubs had managed to weather problems caused by the global economic downturn.

Overall revenues for the top 20 clubs increased in 2008/09 and were over 3.9 billion euros ($A5.87 billion), as the report said "top clubs showed relative resistance to the economic downturn".

Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Newcastle, despite being in the second-tier Championship, were the other English clubs in the top 20.

UEFA chief Michel Platini has repeatedly hit out at 'financial doping' of clubs, in moves seen as thinly veiled attacks on the financial structure of several leading English teams.

But Jones said: "Whilst there has been much recent comment on the finances of English football clubs, we believe the fundamentals of football remain strong.

"Financial problems experienced at the very highest level are far more likely to be a result of mismanagement, weak cost control or a lack of available credit than any problems with revenue generation."

All of the 'big five' European leagues featured in the list with Germany contributing five clubs, Italy four, and France and Spain represented by two teams each.

Henry isn't even the starter anymore, Pedro is getting more minutes than him in the last games and he is playing so well that even Del Bosque is considering to take him to Southafrica.

Stop calling me a homer, when have I been a homer?

Let's see all the comments I made for which you guys have called me a homer:

1- "Barcelona is the best team in the world"-

Well, they not only play the most beatiful football I've ever seen but they also had an historic season winning every single tournament they played.

2-"Messi is the best player in the world"-

He won every single individual award there's to win.

3-"Higuain is playing better than any other Real Madrid player right now"-

He's third in the scorers tables in Spain (one goal behind Villa and Messi and only 'cause he has played less minutes than them, he's actually first in goals scored per minute "1 goal every 77 minutes" I didn't check but I think that's the best ratio in all of Europe), all the papers in Madrid say that he is playing better than anybody else on their team right now and the only Spanish poster in ST backs up my claim.

I guess that telling it how it is = beign a homer for some of you.

1- Bordeaux is the best team in the world
2- Gourcuff is the best player in the world
3- Benzema is playing better than any other Madrid player right now because he is on the bench

Seriously, try to explain how am I a homer for saying things that most people agree with and are proven by reality and facts.

Calling me a homer for saying those things is like calling Bulls fans homers for saying that MJ is the GOAT.

I'm not saying he is the better player, I'm saying he is playing better than any other Real Madrid player right now and that's true, bealive me Spanish is my first language and I visit "La Liga" sites quite often, most Real Madrid's fans agree with me. You could also ask the only Spanish poster (I know) in SpursTalk, he backs up my claim as well.

Not really, they're in second place only 2 points behind Barcelona. I don't know what's your problem with Higuain, the dude is a fricking all-star. If you stop buying the comercial hype and start seeing the actual games you will realize what I'm talking about. Weren't you one of the people that thought that Raul was still better than Higuain? Tevez, Aguero, Milito, L.Lopez all those guys stay in the bench behind Higuain.

DAF, I think Higuain is a nice player really but that is all, I don't see a future star and yes I think Raul is still better than Higuain. If I were a Madrid fan I'd prefer see Madrid going with Raul rather than Higuain in a decisive game, no doubt. Lyon is going to play an important game in Madrid and I hope Higuain will play and Raul on the bench.

Hopefully for him I'm dead wrong and Higuain will be a world star soon.

Higuain is already a star, tell me how many players in the world can make goals like these on a consistent basis.

Look at the class, at the ball control, at the dribling, at the power, I bet you can't tell he's a righty from watching these goals :hat

And that last goal, how many people can do that? Messi, Ronaldo? stop counting. There are few players as skilled as Higuain in the wolrd.

DAF I can post a bunch of Gourcuff youtube vids and you will obliged to admit he is already the best player in the world.

For me he is talented young player with a hell of potential like many others and I hope he will explode, he is half french so I root for him.

The thing is I never said Gourcuff isn't a star or that he doesn't have the potential to be one like you said about Higuain.

Besides, I provided some stats next to the highlights, and you also have to take into consideration the league and team Higuain plays for. I just can't understand how a person can say that Higuain isn't a star (or worst: that he doesn't even see a star future in him) when he puts the numbers he puts, with the class and talent that he does and in arguably the most important team of the world.

My comment on Gourcuff was ironic, Gourcuff is not a star, not yet, he is a fucking talented player who has all the tools to be a top 5 in the world but so far he is nothing else than a talented player (arguably best player in France) who has a bright future if he continues to be serious. My vision is the same for Higuain even if I honestly think he is less talented than Gourcuff. Now if Higuain is decisive in a champions league conquest or during the world cup, ok then for the star status. Once again it is just my opinion.

oh and to show you I'm not a Higuain hater... some comments of the french press

Higuain, une place au soleil

http://www.lequipe.fr/Medias/Football/201003/150x108/auteur-du-seul-but-du-match-en-allemagne-l-argentin-higuain-.jpg

Globally he is great with 16 goals over 18 games, he is claiming a big salary increase otherwise he could go in England (Manchester City). People are not totally sold on him because he hasn't been decisive in an international context yet (see the game against Lyon) but he is playing better an better for Argentina NT so doubts will be erased or not during this WC.

The goal he missed was bad I know, but many of the other Real Madrid players wouldn't have even be on that position, specially not Raul, he's too old and slow to have goten to the ball before the goalkeeper.

Besides this doesn't change the truthness of what I said one bit, the fact that Pellegrini didn't pull him off (like he did with Kaka for example) with the way he played today speaks greatly about the way he's percived in Madrid.

This loss a major upset for the Real Madrid, the loss is clearly not on Higuain. Tbh I'm really really happy ! I don't think Lyon can win the champions league but I'm happy Real is out.

I hate this club seriously, they are arrogants, their FO knows shit about football: they think they can buy wins. Moral is safe. You build a successful team with time, with dedication, balancing your lines not throwing tons and tons of euro.
