Artest can't guard Dirk for shit. Odom gets a lot of credit for his ability to guard Dirk, but for every good play on Dirk that Odom makes, Dirk makes two more right back at him. The difference is that its expected from Dirk. It's not expected from Odom (or anyone for that fact).

And when it comes to Gasol/Bynum matchups... now with Butler in the lineup, the perimeter rotations and defense improved DRASTICALLY. It allows Kidd to do something that he does better than any guard in the league, and that is to double down on players in the post. He is actually able to take advantage of that ability now because the Mavericks have defenders that are actually rotating on defense properly when the offense is forced to pass out and swing the ball.

This is something that is going to give the Lakers some serious fits, especially if they meet a more well gelled Mavericks team in the playoffs.
